Looking to add a little awesome to your Thanksgiving table this year?
How about a Fruit Kabob Turkey?! 🙂
I wish I could tell you that I made this masterpiece, but hahaha! Noah was in a special Thanksgiving play last year with his kindergarten class. After the program, some of the parents hosted a big reception and that is where I found this guy.
What’s funny is I am pretty certain that I was supposed to have made and brought something to this reception, but I was drowning in teaching 2-year-olds and completely incapacitated to doing anything other than that! Well, that and throwing Cheerios at my kids around dinnertime while I laid on the couch in a coma. 😉
All that to say, MAN! There are some amazing people out there who know how to turn a pumpkin into a turkey – without the help of Cinderella’s fairy godmother.
I am going to let the photos speak for themselves, but here is a quick breakdown of materials/fruits needed…
- Pumpkin
- Pear
- Pineapple
- Apples
- Honeydew
- Watermelon
- Grapes
- Cheddar cheese chunks
- Skewers and toothpicks
- Googly eyes (and a little hot glue for attaching!)
A little patience as you thread all of those skewers is the most important thing that’s needed for this show-stopping gobbler!
Have fun!
Joyfully,
Julie 🙂

So awesome! I love that you do things like this. =) And the boys do TOO, even when they don’t show it. xoxo

Hi. Do you put the holes with the actual skewers? Won’t they break? Do you use something else ?
Thank you
Sandy

How do you keep the fruit from turning brown while on display?

Did you use fruit fresh or anything to keep these from turning brown ?
