Valentine’s Day is coming up and I love finding simple ways to love my family and others throughout the season.

The ideas that I am sharing with you today to have fun with the people you love all involve a CANDLE. Because let’s be honest — fire is cool. Plan to have a special family dinner together on Valentine’s Day. Set the table with fancy plates and napkins and serve a meal everyone loves. When it’s time for everyone to come to the table, dim the lights. One by one, go around the table and light a candle in front of each person, having family members speak words of love and affirmation to the person whose candle is being lit. At the end of this powerful time, the room will be glowing with reminders that kindness and love lights up darkness. “Honor one another…” Romans 12:10

Going out for a date on Valentine’s Day can end up being a hassle as you encounter heavy crowds and expensive menus/babysitter rates, but a simple evening at home can be just what you and your hubby need. Plan to make your hubby’s favorite dessert (my husband loves THESE), get those kiddos in bed early, and eat the treat by candlelight.
