I literally eat the same thing for breakfast EVERY MORNING.
Lately I have been feeling the nudge to break out of the box a bit.
So when I saw THIS smoothie recipe, I thought – I can do that!
AND it has amazing things like spinach hidden in it that you seriously can not even taste.
I made a few tweaks to what I threw in my blender and thought I’d share it with you not only because it’s delicious, but it’s the perfect color drink for your St. Patrick’s Day festivities. 🙂
Who knows? Maybe your Happy Buddies will go for it in the name of all things Irish!
1 banana
6-8 strawberries, frozen
6-8 peaches, frozen
A few handfuls of spinach
Almond milk – I kind of just eyeball this. Pour in more if you like a thinner smoothie.
Flaxseed
I love these individual-serving-sized flaxseed packets I get at my local Publix. Talk about ease.
Throw everything into a blender.
And turn that baby on.
Our blender isn’t super powerful (I am trying not to be jealous of all you people who own those Vitamix things), so I have to pick the thing up and shake it around a bit to help it all get chopped up. The Happy Hubby says it looks like I am wrestling a chicken.
But eventually it will look like this.
And then it will be all gone and in your belly and you will feel like a million bucks because you consumed most of your fruit and veggie servings before the sun is even up!
Happy Shamrock Smoothie-ing! 🙂
I hear ya about the Vitamix blender issue. I’ve been wanting one for awhile. I totally wrestle with mine! Glad you found something for a change, even if it was only for one morning. =)
It appears by looking at the picture that you do not peel the bananna. Is that correct?
Mary, that might be the peaches you are seeing in there! I DID peel the banana! I am not a fan of peels. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the smoothie!!! xoxo
Thanks so much for this, Julie! I have the same blender and struggle with Vitamix jealously, as well. haha! I have also been wanting to try “green monster” smoothies but have lacked the courage thus far. This looks really good so I am adding it to my grocery list today! Can’t wait to try it. : )
