My mom came to visit Noah the other day and just as all magical Mom-Moms do, she came bearing magical gifts! She gave Noah the cutest Fisher Price School Bus ever (see the pic above)!!!!!!!
It was the perfect gift because Noah has just started to grow enamored with buses. There is an elementary school across the street from where we live, so bright yellow school buses frequent the road outside our house. Noah stands at the window and points and grunts at them with excitement. So you can only imagine the inexpressable joy he had when introduced to his new toy.
Noah has been playing with his precious school bus every moment since. He walks around the house carrying it. It even plays music and the little bus driver (whose name is Eddie) says, “C’mon everyone! Get on the bus! It’s time for school!”
I was so inspired by his little Fisher Price Bus that I decided to create my own!
Here’s what I did…I grabbed a shoebox and covered it with cut out pieces of yellow construction paper.
Then I cut out windows from white construction paper.
I found a smaller box for the front of the bus and covered it with yellow paper too.
Next I decorated it with headlights and a grate.
I used red paper to tape a couple of STOP signs to the sides and of course every bus needs wheels – so I cut out wheels from black paper. My FAVORITE part was adding Noah’s pictures to make it look like he is riding in the bus and driving it too! Look out everyone! There’s a 14 month-old on the road! I simply cut the pictures out from some wallet-sized photos I had printed at Walgreen’s.
I glued a back door on too!I wrote BRASINGTON BUS on the side for another personal touch!
It’d be even more fun to do this project with a child who is actually in school because you could add pictures of all their little school friends. Or you could throw in some family pictures!
How cute!
What a simple craft! It only took about 15 minutes to put together. Then lay some black pieces of construction paper down on your floor (as a road) and let your child play away!
Don’t forget to sing “The Wheels on the Bus” song! 🙂
