Last year I shared 10 incredible tips for your next road trip – see it HERE.
One of the reasons why I wrote that post and created the printable was because our little family was going to go on an epic road trip from South Florida to Tennessee.
I knew I needed to be armed with some good ideas to help us SURVIVE.
One of the ideas that I took from that list that helped us the most is what I am sharing here today!
This idea gives kids a visual that helps them understand and break down just how many hours they have traveled and how many are left before the final destination. It provides a super easy way to answer the “Are we there yet?” question that inevitably rears its ugly head during the drive. 🙂
All I did was hang a piece of ribbon from one side of the car to the other – using the handles as a good place to attach it all with some tape.
Then I taped cut-out numbers on top of the ribbon counting the hours we would be in the car – with a stop at Mom-Mom’s halfway (woot woot!).
I added a little cut-out car that we moved every time an hour passed.
The kids loved it!
And because I am not super organized, I thought to do this about 3 minutes before we pulled out of the driveway of our house – so don’t be too impressed! It came together quickly and ended up being the BIGGEST lifesaver!
What are your family’s best tips for road trips???
Joyfully,
Julie 🙂
