The first day of school is the perfect day for capturing memories on camera! When your little back-to-schooler is dressed in his/her crisp new clothes and is sporting his/her brand new backpack, take a picture of them standing by your front door. Or your could change the location and take the picture by the door of your child’s school, or even with a teacher!
When I was teaching 2nd grade, I remember the Barron family took a picture of their child every year with their teacher. I had the privilege of teaching BOTH of their kids, so I got to be a part of their special Back-to-School tradition TWICE!
Another twist on this memorable photo would be to get some construction paper and cut out the number grade your child is entering and have them hold it up for the picture, or let them just hold up the appropriate number of fingers on their hands.
OR to really celebrate the big first day, pick up a candle from the baking section at your local grocery store that has the number grade your child is entering. Stick the candle in your child’s stack of breakfast pancakes or waffles and let them blow it out! Snap a picture of them in action!
It will be so magical to look back on all of these photos when they are graduating from the 12th grade! 🙂
