Yesterday we saw 9 different First Day of School Tradition Ideas that will make going back to school an absolute celebration for your Happy Buddy.
I left out one tradition in particular because it deserves an entire post to itself! 🙂
First Day of School Photos.
In my high school senior yearbook, one of my friend’s had a special page that her parents bought as a way to showcase their daughter’s educational journey.
It was the most amazing page in our yearbook because this girl’s mom had taken photos of her daughter every year on the first day of school with her fingers holding up the number of what grade she was entering.
Kind of like this…
What a masterpiece it was to see all of those pictures in one spot – celebrating my friend’s growth each year of her school career!
Happy Home Friends, this is a simple tradition that will be a forever keepsake!
Here are a few inspirations for your First Day of School Photography Session.
Living Locurto uses inexpensive chalkboards instead of the finger-holding thing for her Happy Buddies’ first day!
Or you could make your own chalkboard in the shape of a speech bubble like Make and Takes!
ADORABLE!
Find out how to make a chalkboard speech bubble HERE.
i heart naptime is offering a FREE Printable sign featuring your Happy Buddy’s grade level!
Just print out the correct grade, slap on to a dowel rod, and snap your picture – easy peasy.
And soooo cute.
After you’ve snapped the First Day Photos – what should you do with them?
Living Locurto shows you how to make a Back to School-themed picture frame that even has a fun fact sheet glued to the back!
The Crafting Chicks have some brilliant advice on how to be intentional about capturing the excitement of the first day.
I so needed their tips because I am a little lacking in the photography skills department and they make it look so easy!
And, finally, if your Happy Buddy is bribed with enough candy willing enough, you could have him balance some vintage children’s books and an apple on his head for his first day of school photo and be pretty proud of the results. 🙂
Do you take First Day Photos? I’d love to hear about it!
Happy First Day of School Photo-ing! 🙂

These are all so cute!! I absolutely appreciate how you have all of the ideas in one central place!! I saw the printables the other day and have already downloaded them, but now I am loving some of the others….and of course have a very impatient little five year old 🙂

Very creative first day pictures! We always end up snapping a shot at the front door. I like the idea of adding a sign. 🙂

Love the idea of the fact sheet! I have a good memory, but there are so many things I wish I knew about my childhood!
