Today I am SO excited to share with you something that has totally ROCKED our world!
Do you remember my Summer Bucket List? The first item on the list was our wish to remove the nasty, old carpeting from our house and replace it with tile or wood.
This has actually been a dream of ours for several years, but whenever we saved up enough money, someone was either hospitalized or a car broke down or some other LIFE thing.
We were ready to take the plunge this summer, but then Mr. B. and I decided that a bigger dream we wanted to see happen was getting the new blog design and migration – something that YOU precious readers helped us accomplish {{HUGS}}!
But even with your help, there were still some big expenses on our end and we decided to put another hold on the floor project.
Then about a month into the school year, some friends of ours introduced us to a store called Floor & Decor and I about lost my marbles giddy about this new discovery.
An idea stirred in my heart and I decided to reach out to Floor & Decor and see if they would be interested in collaborating on a project with the Happy Home Fairy.
And would you believe that THEY AGREED?! I fainted dead away after I read THAT EMAIL.
Mr. B. and I immediately scheduled a visit to our local Floor & Decor store to pick up what we would need for our project.
Y’all.
THIS STORE.
Here are my 3 favorite things about Floor & Decor…
#1 – Education
Floor & Decor is committed to making sure everyone who walks in their doors knows what to do with the stuff they buy before they walk out.
All of their employees are super smart about the products available in the store. We got to work with John – their resident wood flooring expert. And boy, was he!
He even taught my boys how to install the wood flooring we ended up purchasing. I am all for child labor. 😉
Now I am not a natural designer when it comes to picking out flooring. There are so many options! Laminate, Engineered, Bamboo, Tile, Marble… Not to mention all of the different colors! My mom can walk into a store like this and just KNOW what to buy. I, on the other hand, freeze up when it comes to making such big, mostly permanent decisions.
Well, Floor & Decor knows how to help people like me by offering FREE Design Services!
This is Disa. She walked me through all of my choices and totally affirmed the one option we were leaning toward. She is my new best friend.
She is also awesome because she did not even mind that my children were getting into shenanigans checking out all of the sample bathrooms behind her desk (Note child #1 in the shower).
The other thing I love about Floor & Decor is that they have FREE classes that you can attend to learn how to install the products you buy yourself! Mr. B. and I LOVE the idea of doing things ourselves and he happens to be quite handy, but this project was a bit too big for us and our season of life. Still, it was good to know that these classes were available and we didn’t have to enroll in a university or watch 2,000 YouTube videos to figure it all out.
The store also has handy flyers in each section that tell you what you need to buy to complete a flooring project. They make it so easy!
#2 – Inexpensive
How many of us initially hit Home Depot when we have a home project in mind? That’s what Mr. B. and I have always done and usually we walk out of their wondering if we will ever have enough money to afford the products we want.
Let me tell you something – when we first walked into Floor & Decor and saw their AMAZING prices, our home project dreams finally became a reality.
Seriously. Floor & Decor gets all of their products directly from manufacturers, so they are able to offer us the lowest prices. They also promise that if you find the same product cheaper somewhere else THEY WILL MATCH THE PRICE. Um YES, please.
#3 – Everything You Need Is At Floor & Decor
This was perhaps my favorite thing about the store.
As a busy mama, I do not have the time to store hop to a million different places to get all the things we needed for our project.
Floor & Decor had EVERYTHING we needed – and then some.
Of course we needed the floor. I was looking at 3 different types of flooring. Engineered hardwood, wood tile, and bamboo. (You’ll see what we picked TOMORROW!) Floor & Decor had all of my top picks in stock. I was even able to take home a few samples for a refundable $5.
Since we were removing the carpet, our old baseboards would not measure up with the new flooring, so we knew we would need to buy some new baseboards as well.
Floor & Decor had a whole selection of beautiful baseboards!
They also had the underlayment we would need to put underneath our floors.
Mr. B. made the call on this choice – when I asked him which one he purchased he said, “The Rolls Royce, baby.” Which, if you see this handy display stand above, you can see all the goods on that. LOVE the mold barrier part – y’all know about our house’s mold issues!!
I let Mr. B. take charge of our monkeys while I slipped away to look at the tile.
Oh my goodness – this tile. In my bathroom – NOW.
And I am completely and totally on the subway tile bandwagon. One day I hope we can put it up on the walls in the kitchen… And the guest bathroom. And the master bathroom…
And these tile backsplashes! There are so many options my brain almost exploded. Don’t know what to do with a backsplash? Check out THIS VIDEO on Floor & Decor’s website for a super short and fun tutorial on how to put together a backsplash that will change the whole feel of your bathroom or kitchen!
See what I mean about having the whole kitten caboodle?
We walked out of there with everything but the kitchen sink (and, if you’re wondering, they had those, too).
The only thing I wish we had done different in our store visit to Floor & Decor was take them up on the $100 delivery fee.
After spending such a large sum of money, Mr. B. wanted to pinch pennies where he could, so we borrowed a friend’s pick-up truck. But he ended up having to make 2 trips to the store and then it took him and I a million hours and a few broken backs to unload the boxes into our living room.
We probably needed $100 in chiropractor visits to recover from that decision.
So, friends, if you are thinking about redoing your floors or bathroom or kitchen, I can’t say enough wonderful things about using the store Floor & Decor for your remodeling needs.
Just be prepared for a family snuggle in the sample bathroom showers.

You aren’t going to want to miss it!

Thanks for the tip–they don’t have a store in my area, but I will definitely be checking out their website! So glad you’re finally getting your new floors! It’s going to feel like a new house. : )

Great post Julie! Bravo for being brave and reaching out to them! Seems like an awesome place. So many times we don’t take advantage of what all stores do have to offer and try to do it on our own with not so great results! lol. I hope everything turned out the way you had hoped! Merry Christmas!
