Happy Buddy turned 7 this past Sunday and he wanted to have a basketball party!
If you have been reading Happy Home Fairy for awhile, you know how this kid loves this sport. So we had some fun putting together a simple celebration to honor his beloved game!
Happy Buddy requested yellow cake cupcakes with chocolate icing – his favorite.
Party City had these cute and easy basketball party picks which I used as cupcake toppers.
I got this idea from A Girl And a Glue Gun. Seriously, how cute are these cuties?! They were a big hit with the kids.We served pizza and a few other orange-colored foods like carrots and Goldfish.
Water bottles and orange Gatorade were in a cooler on the floor.
All basketball-themed paper products found HERE.
I bought some soft mini basketballs, some basketball whistles, and some sports ball-themed chocolates and put everything into a basketball party favor bag.

We had originally planned to have Happy Buddy’s party in a nearby park, but the morning of the party brought a lot of rain and it was about 4000% humidity and my hair made an executive decision to bring the party inside.
So we had the party in our church/school gym and it was great!
We set up a movie on the big screen (Air Bud) and we let the kiddos run around and shoot hoops.
Seven candles for the 7-year-old!
As much as I love throwing a party, the best part is seeing a happy birthday boy!
Tomorrow when he wakes up though, that happiness will turn to grief as we have to break the news to him that Dwayne Wade just signed with the Chicago Bulls.
I can’t even talk about that right now. 😛
I hope you found some fun ideas here!
Joyfully,
Julie 🙂
