Halloween is just one week away and some of you might be feeling a little confused about what to do with it.
On the one hand, we know that there are many who choose to celebrate this day for dark purposes.
On the other hand, we know and believe the truth that “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24.
So what is a Christian to do?
You can read my thoughts on the matter HERE, but the short version is I believe that October 31st is just another day that we have been given by God to respond to the Great Commission found in Matthew 16:15 –
“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
Today I want to share with you 6 fun ways you can preach the Good News to the people in your world and shine in the darkness on Halloween…
Witnessing Stickers for Halloween Candy
A few years ago I created some FREE Printable stickers that you can print and attach to all of the Halloween candy that you will be giving out on the 31st. This is such a neat way to get Jesus in all of those sugar-filled pillow cases that will be on your doorstep!
You can grab your witnessing stickers HERE!
Pumpkin Devotion RAK
I love doing Random Acts of Kindness for others! I wrote an entire book about it <<HERE>> {shameless plug – wootwoot}! 😉
Pick up a small pumpkin at your local grocery store or patch, attach THIS PRINTABLE PUMPKIN DEVOTION, and drop it on a neighbor’s doorstep.
Reverse Trick or Treat
I have a sweet friend that likes to do something called Reverse Trick or Treating on Halloween.
Instead of her kids asking for treats at each house they visit, THEY GIVE the treat!
Bake a batch of Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins, or my famous Fall Snack Mix, or THESE yummy pumpkin cookies, or THESE delicious chocolate Reese’s Pieces Cookies. Then package them up and attach one of THESE INSPIRATIONAL FALL-THEMED CARDS to your treat and you’re good to go!
The Pumpkin Gospel
Bring home a pumpkin from the patch, gather up your kiddos and their friends, and share The Pumpkin Gospel with them!
Covering Jesus’ birth to death to resurrection, this amazing lesson shares the Good News in a fun visual way.
You can find a FREE Printable and all the instructions HERE!
Biblically Inspired Costumes
Need some inspiration for your family’s Halloween costumes?
Check out THIS POST for a list of creative costume ideas that come straight from God’s Word (my favorite is the last suggestion)!
Open Your Home
No better way to share the Gospel with people than to open your home to them.
Invite the neighbors that you have been meaning to for a long time. Invite the new family at church. Invite the grocery store clerk you see every time you shop.
Put some cider on the stove, make THIS yummy Beef Barley soup or THIS prize-winning chili and THESE cheddar biscuits and fellowship!
The point is, ask the Lord to open your eyes for opportunities to share His light and love with others.
He will show you the way!

Thank you for all of your great, and do-able ideas!
Our family has put “SMILE Jesus Loves You!” papers around our Halloween candy for 10 years. We stand at the door with big smiles and our kids have fun habding out candy to the 250-300 kids we see each year. 🙂
It teaches our kids about shining for Jesus with this act of service prepping all the candy, plus handing it out joyfully.
God bless you as you seek to serve Him and bless others.

Love the ideas. We have only about an hour in children s church on Wednesday nights. Everyone is in the sanctuary from 7:00-7:20 for praise and worship. The pastor dismisses the kids with a prayer and then we are off to childrens church. The kicker is we have a day care that brings in about 11 children from a nearby town that has to get all her kids at straight up 8:00 We are in the middle of an art/craft project. HELP painting a project is not in the cards due to the time restraint . We had 17 kiddos last Wednesday. Thank you in advance for your help

Wonderful ideas! Our youth group at church does a reverse trick or treating to hand out candy and invite people to our church trunk or treat and tell them about Jesus. They are always so excited to go share the Good News and spread some joy and love!

Hi Alisha! What a wonderful tradition for those kids! I love that early training to share the Gospel with others! Thank you for telling me about it!

We love to take a picture of our daughter in her costume, and distribute a flier a week before Halloween letting meighnors know she will be collecting spare change for UNICEF on Oct 31st. The entire neighborhood has been transformed over the past 3 years, as have needy children.

I LOVE THAT!!!
