I hope you all had fun with Lunch Box Week at Happy Home Fairy!
But it’s not over…yet.
While you saw a lot of neat and inspiring lunch box ideas last week, I wanted you all to know the reality of my own Happy Home’s lunch box.As you can see, nothing super fancy.Just a peanut butter sandwich (with the crusts cut off) in a regular ole’ random, mismatching Rubbermaid container.
Veggie Straws (in a super exciting Ziplock bag).
Vegetable Puree (because even if I put broccoli in a cute little Bento box, the Happy Buddy still wouldn’t eat it. :-)).
Larabar.
That’s it, Happy Home Friends!
Is the pressure off?? 🙂
I also try to include a love note, joke, or special surprise each day.
This is what the Happy Buddy discovered in his lunch box a few days ago…I found a whole pack of transportation-themed erasers at the Dollar Tree the other day, so I snatched them up and have been sneaking a few in with his lunches.
When the Happy Buddy saw me after school he held up his eraser shouting, “Big Surprise! Big Surprise!”
His joy made it all worth it!

And one last thought on Lunch Boxes before our little celebration ends…
Many years ago, a mom (quite like you and me) packed her son’s lunch.
It was a simple lunch. Just some loaves of bread and 2 small fish.
But that lunch crossed the path of Jesus –
Who took that lunch and used it to feed over 5,000 people.
Want to read about it for yourself? Go HERE.
Your Happy Buddy’s lunches don’t have to look museum-ready.
They don’t even need a lot of expensive accessories.
What they need is your love and faithfulness to prepare them.
Because you never know how God is going to use that lunch for His glory.
Happy Lunch Box Make-ing! 🙂

As a Christian mom and grandmom, I love your site and your words of wisdom!

Thank you for all the cute lunchbox ideas over the past couple of weeks. This last post however, is definitely the best of the bunch!

I so appreciate your realness in this post. So true, though, right? But I do love and have been sharing your back-to-school posts (the love notes are definitely my favorite!).
Also, I wanted to let you know that I wrote a very transparent parenting post today, and I featured your site at the end.
Thanks for all your “magical” work!
Kelly
This post made me cry! That is so true! I never even considered how the mother had packed that little lunch for the boy who ended up feeding so many.

That looks about right! 🙂

Well, I have been following your little lunchbox series faithfully, but always kind of shaking my head and thinking, “People actually DO that? Like, on a DAILY basis???” My girls’ lunches are never fancy ~ usually leftovers that they can reheat in their classrooms’ microwaves. But anyway, the reason I’m commenting is because I was really struck by your last paragraph here today. We really never know the impact we may have by doing mundane jobs faithfully. GREAT point and a wonderfully encouraging reminder to ‘stay in the battle!’ Thank you!!

I am so thrilled you are going to have another Happy Buddy – ette! I guess that is what you will call a little girl {{{Grin}}}. Keep thinking PINK! I was thinking when Happy Buddy started school we would loose the wonderful postings I enjoy so much daily. I never had any little ones, but I have some extremely spoiled nieces and nephews and now greats are in the making. I use so many of your adorable ditties to share with them. Keep up your faithful work and I will see you at the Thanksgiving table because I know you must be part of my family. MAy God Bless and Keep you and your adorable family out of harms way.

The ending of your post gave me a little chill.
It is so true – we have no idea how God is going to weave the little things we do into the big, complex, beautiful tapestry of life He has designed for us. Thank you.

Loved the ending of the post too! Got a bit teary-eyed! Such a great reminder….
