Girls, get ready for the motherload of awesome. 🙂

1. It Will Be Okay by Lysa TerKeurst – One of my favorite authors.  Her books have had a huge role in shaping my faith.  When my friend told me she had a book for kids, I had to get it.  It’s precious – the story helps communicate to your child one of the most important messages God’s love wants us to hear – that it will, indeed, be okay, because He is in control.

2. Gold Glitter Nail Polish – Y’all know my passion for all things sparkly.  This nail polish will be just the thing to help you ring in the new year.

3.-4. I loooove me some Target Dollar Bin finds.  Adorable Santa cupcake toppers and Santa Post-Its to write sweet messages to throw in your loved ones’ lunch pails.

5. The Antelope in the Living Room by Melanie Shankle – This is a book about real marriage – the for better and the worse parts of it.  I am IN LOVE with the author (find her hilarious blog HERE) and how she can take the most mundane things and make them absolutely hysterical. You will laugh out loud, cry, and immediately go buy her other book when you finish this one.

6. Growing Grateful Kids by Susie Larson – One of the most frequent things I pray is that my kids will grow daily in an attitude of gratitude.  This book by Susie Larson has given me so many wonderful ways to help shepherd that in my boys’ hearts.

7. Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara – Do you remember my review and giveaway of this mascara back in the summer? (If you missed it, go HERE to see how amazing this product is – before and after photos included!!)  I have another one for you!  I don’t know what I did before this mascara I love it so much.

8. Majestic CD by Kari Jobe – Kari is one of my most favorite worship leaders (beside the hubs, of course).  We got to meet her when Happy Baby was in the hospital (see HERE) and she prayed for him with us – I can’t even tell you how much that meant to me.  Her heart is so pure and precious and this album is her best yet.  I listen to it all. the. time.  The last 3 tracks will melt you.

9. Nativity Stickers – I am slightly obsessed with stickers.  As a preschool teacher I give stickers out every day to my students.  And they provide such an excellent fine motor experience for the kiddos.  I got so excited to find these Christ-centered stickers in the Dollar Spot at Target.  I may have bought 12 of them and gave them to all the other preschool teachers at my school.

10. Glitter – One of the most frequent questions I am asked is where I buy the glitter that I wear on my face every. single. day.  Here is the answer – Claire’s. 🙂  You don’t have to be a tween to shop there!  This glitter is the greatest.  After my make-up is finished, I put a few dabs of this on my eyelids (and my cheeks and neck and chest…) before walking out the door.  My OB once asked if I was a pole dancer because I was wearing glitter.  Not even kidding.  Read about it HERE.

11. Burt’s Bees Lip Balm – I adore the way this makes my lips feel – tingly and refreshed!  Plus, you’ve got to get that mouth ready for your hubby and all that mistletoe floating around this season.

12. Yellow Picture Frame – Love these bright and fun wooden frames from Hobby Lobby, especially when they are filled with a photo of my little family.

13. Happy Birthday Jesus Ornament – Because this is what IT’S ALL ABOUT.

14. Breaking Free 365-Day Devotional by Beth Moore – Beth Moore’s original Breaking Free study changed my life.  My mother-in-law got me this devo a few years ago and I have enjoyed it ever since.  The devotionals are short, but powerful.  Just what this busy mama needs every morning.

15. Stella and Dot Soiree Gold Stud Earrings – I wish I had thought to take these earrings out of the box when I was photographing my stocking.  They are SO pretty.  And they go with EVERYTHING.  Dressed in yoga pants?  These glam it up.  Did you actually get a shower and put on make-up today?  These will take your look to the next level.  My friend, Jacqueline Rodewald, donated this pair for the giveaway, so please make sure if you love these earrings as much as I do that you buy yourself (and all the ladies on your Christmas gift list) a pair from her HERE.

stockingAnd last but not least, the stocking itself is the cutest thing I have ever seen.

My mom and I found it at this hole-in-the-wall shop in Georgia when we were visiting her over Thanksgiving break and doing some Black Friday shopping.  It was so bright and cheerful I knew it was just the thing for this giveaway –

for YOU!

I think I’d most like to win the earrings because they would be such a surprise since they are hidden in the box! I have one pair of earrings at the moment because over the years so many have lost their match. My husband and I decided not to exchange gifts this year to help out the budget, so it would be amazing to win a gift for myself!

My favorite item in your stocking is #14. Breaking Free 365-Day Devotional by Beth Moore. My very first adult bible study was Beth Moore’s “The Patriarchs” in 2005. I was a young mom and an army wife. At 19, with a husband over seas, I was pretty overwhelmed. That study in to Genesis and God’s pursuit of a relationship with his people truly changed me and gave me strength in my faith. I love Beth Moore’s books and how plainly they speak to our hearts about the gift we have all been given.

My favorite thing in your stocking is the “It Will Be Okay” book. I am a single foster parent to a 7 year old boy and we have had a ROUGH year. He lost his birth parents this year, we lost his little foster brother who was given to his drug addicted parents after living with us since birth (17 months), we lost my dad last month to cancer, another very special friend to my son to cancer in May, and now it looks as if we will lose his foster sister in the next week–to name a few things that have happened this year. I think we could both benefit from this book (and the other lovely gifts) as we are both struggling to trust that God is in control and especially that everything will be okay. Thank you for considering us!

Wow! Everything is amazing! I am having a hard time deciding what I love most. The book by It’ll Be Alright would be so great to read to my three little Munchkins. Being a military family I know they need that reassurance in their lives. I LOVE gold glitter polish on top of pretty much any other color on my toes. =) My daughter and I love making cupcakes together, and haven’t baked together in awhile. Lunch box notes are one of my favorite things to do for her (I have been inspired by you over the years to leave a little note). I have never read any book by Melanie Shankle, but building a Godly and great marriage is something I pray and try to work on everyday. Growing Grateful Kids is something I am constantly working on with my kids… I need some guidance on how to do that in this world we live in. Mascara =) I have the wimpiest lashes!!! Kari Jobe is an artist that I just discovered a couple months ago! I Love how her music touches my soul and reminds me of God’s great love and promises! I only have one of her songs on my phone right now and would love to hear more! Nativity stickers are so awesome! I had a sheet growing up and I remember every Christmas I loved to pull out the sheets I had and make cards for family. I haven’t seen nativity stickers in so long. =) Glitter, your OB story cracks me up! I love anything that is sparkly too! Burt’s Bees Lip Balm, one of my favorites and I need a lot of it here being stationed in the very dry part of southern Idaho. Yellow is such a fun color and would be great to put on my walls. I need to put more family pictures up. Ornament, It reminds me of singing Happy Birthday to Jesus with our Birthday cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning. I need a new devotion book! and Beth Moore is great… and Breaking Free sounds like a study I need too! Earrings! I only have two pairs and would feel great having something new to add to my tiny collection. =) Is it bad that I feel like praying that I win…. It feels so selfish, but I know that this giveaway would be such an amazing pick me up that this exhausted and loving mommy (& wife of an Airman) desperately need in this challenging time of motherhood…. I have a 9, 5, and 1 year old. =) Thank you for all you do Julie! You are truly an inspiration to being a woman of God! I know that you have blessed my life for so many years, I am so glad God led me to your blog =)

I’m new to your blog, but it is already at the top of my favorites list!! I love your honesty and heart, the way you write about everyday life.
About the stocking- Actually, I love everything in this stocking, but my favs would definitely be the books, It will be okay, The antelope in the living room and growing grateful kids. Oh, and I also love the yellow picture frame. I’m a person who loves to keep my favorite memories, along with my family’s beautiful faces on display. I always feel surrounded by love and happiness. I picked the books because -1.(it will be okay)with everything going on in the world nowadays, it’s important to me to instill in my son that no matter what happens, Jesus will always help us through it. My son just turned 8, so he is aware and understanding of what is going on and it’s scary. 2.(Growing grateful kids) My son is very blessed, so I think it’s vitally important that he know everyone isn’t as fortunate and that we can bless others, the way we have been blessed. There really is no better feeling than helping others and trying to make a difference. 3.(The antelope in the room) Even though I have a happy marriage, no matter how hard we try, life sometimes gets in the way and things become routine. It’s nice to have a little reminder about how to get out of the routine. Lastly, I live in Georgia, where did you get that cute stocking?! I apologize this was so long! Oops! Merry Christmas to you and yours! ?

  • Things I’ve learned from breaking my tailbone >>

1. It is possible to wear only 4 outfits in 2 weeks.

2. God is more concerned with developing character and deep roots than about our physical comfort.

3. My children don’t love to see me bedridden, but they love that they have been able to eat nuggets, pizza, and fries for 2 weeks.

4. When you can’t sleep because of pain or wild imagination that is not helpful, put on worship music.

5. A good prayer to pray, “Show me the depth of my need for You and shatter my self-sufficiency. Change my mindset so that prayer becomes my first response in every situation. May I seek You in all things. Help me to put all my hope in You...”

6. Hold on to a sense of humor. Or find someone to get you laughing. Even though it will hurt to laugh. You need to not take it all so seriously!

7. God’s people are so precious. People showed up on our doorstep with lasagnas, flowers, sandwiches, Uber Eats gift cards, and one dear soul even sent her cleaning ladies to our house to undo the damage of mama being down for days on end. Whenever I was tempted to despair, someone would text or bring by some freshly cut fruit. The message here is don’t ask, just do > because every act of kindness reminded me of Who is in charge.

8. When hard times come, lean into gratitude instead of fussiness and resistance. Thank your husband for carrying everything while you’re down, thank your community for carrying you to Jesus, thank the Lord for being present in all circumstances with a plan for your good and His glory. There is a reason God tells us in the Bible to do all things without complaining or disputing-so that you. will. shine. It’s not easy, but the reward is GREAT. I want the world to see Jesus shining in me in my adversity. Doesn’t mean you can’t cry and admit that what you are facing is so very difficult, but this can be done with a surrendered heart. This is the new assignment. Accept it, receive it as something that is from a loving Father. Look for the provisions along the way. You will go from strength to strength. Move forward with hope. He’s got you!

  • Mom and Dad are here and now it’s officially Christmas! ❤️🎄❤️

I haven’t opened our home to host anything since 4 years ago when we got a dog and I lost complete control of the house. Also because this is a house of boys and the bathroom permanently smells like an outhouse and I’m a little self conscious about all of it. 🫠

But when your parents come to town, it’s time to dust off the plates that aren’t made out of paper and plan a delicious breakfast menu! ✨

The dog was absolutely thrilled to have so many new friends. Also he probably ate more than all of us combined. 😆

All is calm and all is bright! And even the toilets aren’t so bad! 🥲
  • ✨When we wake up, it will be Christmas!✨

I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me to bake a cake for a family very dear to us. I went to the store, bought the ingredients, and carefully followed the recipe. The recipe said multiple times not to overcook the cake because it will very easily become dry. So I watched the oven diligently. But when I pulled the cake out, I could tell it had baked a little too long.

God called me to bake this cake for this family. It wasn’t time to quit, but it wasn’t time to make another cake! So instead of getting discouraged, I chose to pray about it. I asked the Lord to take my offering and make much of it. If He can multiply the loaves and fish, He can moisten up a cake!

Precisely one day after delivering the cake, we received a text stating what I thought was impossible. The cake was good! Delicious even!

Seems silly to pray about an overcooked cake, but I believe God is honored in these small acts of faith. Believing in the impossible was something God asked Mary to do, so why not trust Him to do the impossible here, too?

What impossible thing can we bring to Him in prayer today? He loves to hear from us. He loves to delight and surprise us when we choose to believe He is good and powerful and kind. He is no magic genie, but I think when our desires align with His heart, when obedience is the priority, and we are fully surrendered come what may, we can trust He will do a good thing.

“For nothing is impossible with God!” Luke 1:37

“He satisfies the hungry with good things.” Luke 1:53

Sleep tight, friends!

Galatians 5:13 says, “For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.”

The Lord gave us some helpful instructions on freedom and we are very much in need of them! May we set our gaze not on division and fighting, but on asking God how we can be a part of the solution - small, faithful acts of Spirit-led love every day to the people in our world.

It is here in America where we can freely and confidently respond to Zion’s request to gather as a family in the living room to pray for the leg pains he has been having. We can bake muffins in our kitchens, leave surprises at someone’s doorstep, share a Bible verse with the grocery store employee, and worship on Sunday with friends.

These freedoms were purchased at a great cost, as many chose to lay down their lives in an ultimate act of love. May we remember. And may that remembering lead us right back to Galatians 5:13 and Jesus’ ultimate act of love. This holy inspiration is what we need to rise each day in humble gratitude for freedom in Christ to pour out, serve, and build His kingdom here on earth!

Happy Birthday America! 🥳

✨When we wake up, it will be Christmas!✨

❤️🤍💙Favorite day!💙🤍❤️

🎉 NOAH is 16! 🎉

Writing this while you are playing a game of hockey with your little brothers in the living room - because you are awesome and love making your little brothers happy. You are commentating the entire game, complete with buzzer sound effects and crowd cheers. 🥅🏒📣

Moving to a new school this year was not easy. We had some hard times, some big disappointments, some dreams crushed… but you didn’t give up. You kept showing up, believing good is always on the way in God’s plans. And sure enough, you’ve made some new friends, discovered a new passion for running, gave it your all, and even rocked a mullet. 😅

You are strong, creative, full of integrity, purity, wit, fun, wisdom, care, responsibility, discernment, intelligence, and love. We could not be more proud of you!!! ❤️🧡💛

Happiest of birthdays, bruh! 😎
