Summer is in full swing over here! While this summer is a little different because I have to work, there is definitely a slower pace we are all enjoying.
As I was dreaming about this site and how to best serve you sweet mamas in the coming months, I decided that I want to keep sharing ideas with you that include simple activities that celebrate Jesus. I want to help you share His love with your kids in fun and engaging ways.
Here is the first one!
During the Trolls movie craze, my kids begged me to buy a box of regular Cheerios so that they could get the Trolls toy that was inside. And would you believe that I fell for it?! My kids don’t even like plain Cheerios. I am such a softee. 🙂
I knew I needed to find a creative way to use our Cheerios. So I grabbed a small tupperware bin, threw in a bunch of letter magnets (I love THESE – affiliate link) and poured the cereal on top.
Then I wrote the name Jesus on a piece of paper and invited Jethro to use some spoons to dig out the letters to spell our Lord’s name!
While he was digging for each letter, we chatted about how God loves it when we seek after Him each day – just like he was searching for the letters.
It was a super simple, educational activity and it encouraged meaningful conversation in between our summer sprinkler runs and trips to the library.
You could encourage your kids to find other words like GRACE or JOY or HEAVEN or even SANCTIFICATION, if you want to just jump in and go deep. 😉
Let me know if you use this idea!
Joyfully,
Julie

I love this idea!!! I am a Mema who has put together a lot of sensory bins in the past.
However, I have great nieces and nephew for whom I am going to put this together for them. I love any way that I can get Jesus into their little hearts. I love your site as I have
used many of your craft ideas! Keep them coming!
You are a blessing in my life,
Mema Jeanne

So fun and easy 🙂 Thanks for the great idea 🙂 Snack and activity all in one 😉 We are going to use the fishing rods we made for our “fisher’s of men” activity to fish out the letters instead of using the colorful spoons. We are also going to throw into the tub our pictures of men and women with the paper clips attached.
