What would summer be without a big pile of chocolate play dough?!?! 🙂
I first saw this recipe at The Idea Room and had to try it!
I did this activity with 3 of my adorable nieces last week when the Happy Buddy and I went over for a play date!
Get the recipe at the bottom of this post!
Mixing our ingredients – smells good!
Boiling the water. There is something so magical about waiting for a kettle to start chirping!
Adding it to the dry ingredients.
The Happy Buddy got bored halfway through. Since one cannot eat chocolate play dough (a very difficult thing to explain to an almost-two-year-old), we had to break out the Cheerios for some Snack Therapy.
Now time to create!!!
And of course, this was my favorite creation of all…
CHOCOLATE MICKEY MOUSE! Two of my favorite things combined into one!!!!
Does it get any better?!?!
Here is the recipe for Chocolate Play Dough!
Mix together:
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cups salt
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
Combine the above ingredients until they are really mixed together well!
Then add:
- 1 1/2 T cooking oil
- 1 cup boiling water
Mix and knead the whole thing until your chocolate play dough is a nice, smooth ball of delicious-ness!
Research tells us that 14 out of any 10 individuals like chocolate.
Happy Chocolate Play Dough-ing!

Aww you can’t eat it?!? That’s just terrible. =) poor un-happy buddy!
I always like peanutbutter play dough (pb, powdered milk or fine graham cracker crumbs, honey). You could add cocoa powder to that and have chocolate pb edible play dough! (for older children 1+ without pb allergies of course)
