Let’s Be Friends

let's be friends!C.S. Lewis said this –

“Friendship is born at the moment when one person says to another: ‘What?!  You too?  I thought I was the only one!'”

Have you ever stayed up super late with a girlfriend, gabbing about the most strange and random topics?

Usually along the way, you discover that you have something in common.

Like your passion for Target Dollar Bins and coconut milk ice cream and Old Navy flip flops and vacuum lines on the carpet.

As friendship grows, knowing this kind of information about each other allows you to show up on one another’s doorsteps with fun and thoughtful gifts ‘just because’, on a hard day, or on birthdays and half-birthdays.

**Because the best of friends celebrate each other’s half-birthdays (mine is July 25 – FYI). :-)**

In an effort to make more friends (and possibly receive more half-birthday presents – ha!), I put together a list of information about myself for you to review to see if we’re gal pal material…

*   *   *   *

I am often told I look like Alanis Morisette.

Long toe nails give me the heebie jeebies.

I am not a fan of washing our slow cooker but am too cheap to buy slow cooker liners.

I never leave the house without mascara on.

I snort when I get laughing really hard.

I can go home after a C-section with no pain meds, but if I catch a stomach virus I am utterly incapacitated.

I tried broccoli for the first time when I was in college.

I sleep with my mouth wide open (super classy, according to the hubs)

I may or may not make my child clean his room, then go in later and re-clean/organize it. #controlfreak

I have a small collection of holiday-themed knee high socks.

Favorite movie – Enchanted.

I lived off of ‘chicken’ noodle soup, fried noodles and duck sauce from a Chinese restaurant near our house for most of my senior year of high school.

I grew a whole shoe size after having my first child.

I used to be a waitress and once accidentally dropped an entire margarita in a customer’s lap.

I have elaborate dreams every night that I love to talk about in the morning with anyone who is willing to listen.

I love CDs and always choose them over an iPod.

The book of Psalms is my favorite thing ever.

I shave my legs every. single. day.

I miss my old flip phone.

I can still do a split (after 3 hours of stretching).

I am absolutely terrified of people touching my neck.

Folding laundry is therapeutic for me.

Favorite book – Stepping Heavenward, Redeeming Love, and the entire Mitford Series.

If I lose something, I will do nothing else until I find it.

I wish that they made ‘Mom’ cars in the color yellow.

I have a black thumb.  Flowers will spontaneously die upon being put under my supervision.

I have a hard time focusing on more than one thing at a time (must have been all that questionable chicken noodle soup).

I am hypothyroid.

I love singing and dancing for my children during dinner.

I have trained my children to tickle my back or play with my hair if they want to stay up later.

I love my family fiercely.

Obsessed with snail mail.

My hair (and subsequent mood for the day) depends on the percentage of humidity outside.

I hate disappointing people.

I often break out in the National Anthem for no reason whatsoever.

I envy anyone that knows how to shuffle a deck of cards.

I pray out loud when my spirit gets anxious.

You cannot leave me alone with a bag of trail mix.

I dream about being the voice for the next Disney princess movie.

I would like to own a pet sheep.

And there you have it.

Leave me a comment below and let me know if you read this and were all like, “YOU TOO?!”

🙂

Now it’s your turn, new friends!  Write 3 things about yourself so that I can bring you a happy on your half-birthday – GO!

– Julie

There are many things from your list that we have in common. I love my girls playing with my hair. They are 12 and 14 now so they don’t do it anymore 🙁 I would let them put bows in, I would have bows everywhere! Something I suggest you let your kids do that I loved: give them a small paint brush and some lotion and let them paint your legs with lotion. I loved it!
I love reading your blog! You are awesome and real.

Wow. So much in common. First off I had my first ever stomach flu this past week and I literally thought I was going to die. But I’ve had about 5 surgeries on my lower abdominal area with no meds. I also hate long toenails or unpainted ones. I don’t think my toenails have been unpainted since I was in middle school ?. I also “reclean” after my kids clean up. I like toys to be in just the right spot ha! I have trained my 5 year old son to play with my hair during story time. He even thinks it’s something special that he has earned!! ?
    Three thigs about me:
    1. I cannot sing to save my life but I love to put on Disney music in the car with my 3 kids ages 7,5, & 1, and sing and dance at the top of our lungs. (Only when daddy’s not in the car hehe)
    2. I love being mommy and wife and “home maker” but for the life of me I feel I often go in circles instead of being able to completely get organized and on a schedule although I have good intentions!
    3. When me and my mom and my sister get together and start laughing we have such a loud (obnoxious so may say) laugh that we have actually caused a commotion or maybe just frightened people!
Thanks for the friendship offer! I think friends and laughter are gifts God has given us to experience some joy in our lives!

I really do want to send you something for your half-birthday, Julie. Would you please message me a shipping address so I can?

Lol, I found myself nodding emphatically to most of the things on your list! Three things about me are that 1.) Love it! The number one thing in common is the toe nails!!!! I am a feet person. Don’t have nasty feet in front of me or else. I once told a co worker, after looking at her feet, “DON’T come to work like that again! When I get my pedicures (religiously every two weeks) the ladies know me by now…they don’t even ask anymore. SHORT… cut those bad boys SHORT. No white showing. I hate to be in bare feet. If I go somewhere else for my pedicures, I am always met (um, pride here), with “Your feet are so soft”. Yes, because I never go barefoot. I wear socks in my house. Yes, In 90 degrees, I would wear socks before being barefoot.
I take a bubble bath EVERY night of my life. It is a drug. Better than Xanax or Valium.
I have been dying my hair since I was 24. I don’t know if that means I have been wise from a young age (crown thingy in the Bible), or if I have been stressed since that time! My wonderful son Matthew, when he was little and was filling out a Mother’s day thing for his class about his mommy, answered thusly… Your mom’s hair color? Dyed brown…. yes, his response. True story. ♥

I loved reading your “random” facts, and think you are an amazing friend! I also cannot stand long toenails (eww!), I do not like cleaning the crockpot though I use it often – I blessed with a sweet hubby who usually washes it for me, my world stops when I lose something (until it is found), and I hate disappointing people!
Random about me – (1) I am an identical twin and we looked so much alike through high school that we often just got called by our last name and I don’t even know which one is me in most childhood photos, (2) I love dressing my girls up in frilly clothes and matching bows, but am totally a jeans and Tshirt kinda girl myself. I like the idea of fashion but just don’t have the time to figure it out, (3) I have insomnia, which I wish I didn’t, but it allows me to get lots of crafting/baking/soaping done I wouldn’t otherwise with 2 little ones, so I make the most of it!

You are so awesome Happy Fairy Julie. So glad you are back blogging 🙂 This blog is so up lifting. First I hate long toe nails too, BUT I barely have toe nails to begin with. Literaly every time I get a pedicure they always make comments of how tiny they are. (Seriously both myself and them paint fake toenails on my pinky toes) I try to grow them a little so they will look bigger but it absoluetly drives me crazy (nails on chalkboard crazy) so I always end up clipping them. I absolutly love when God shows me His humor or when He answers a prayer in a big way and my jaw drops thinking Wow You were listening. (I know He always listens but sometimes when He moves so detailed and specifically I’m just humbled and in awe) I only ate a small handful of vegetables growing up (basics like corn, green beans, potatoes) When I met my husband he persuaded me to try new things and now I absolutely love all but lettuce (taste like dirt to me). Funny because now I love spinach and brussel sprouts and my honey doesn’t. Happy almost half birthday, mine half birthday is February 10th.

Ok, I KNEW I loved you for some unknown reason (aside from the obvious ones, like how radiantly beautiful and sweet you are)…so here you go. 🙂 <3

Long toe nails make me cringe, but for me the toes hanging over the front of the shoe is even worse. Do you people know how dirty the ground is? If you want your toes on the ground, don't wear shoes! Ok, sorry, got a bit distracted there…I also snort when I laugh too hard. I had a boyfriend when I was in my early 20's who used to make me laugh extra hard just to get me to snort. I have 13 pairs of Halloween knee socks, 15 Christmas ones, and a few random others (one has Easter eggs all over). I am SO glad to know I am not the only person over the age of 12 who does this! I also have very vivid dreams almost every night, and while my husband always lends an attentive ear, I guarantee you he is just shaking his head at me when I walk away. Some of them are a little…weird. I was also a waitress, and was practically addicted to the rolls, but it was Red Lobster, and who DOESN'T love their bread?? I DREAD disappointing anyone, but especially my close family. And finally…I learned how to shuffle a deck of cards about 10 years ago, but I'm still pretty bad at it.

3 things about me (my half birthday is March 1, which was also my dad's actual birthday!):

    1. I silently (and sometimes not so silently) correct grammar and spelling in EVERY SINGLE THING I read. 2. I love Justin Timberlake more than a grown married woman should (I feel like a silly teenager!). 3. I am ruthlessly clean and organized at work, but my van is ALWAYS a horrid mess.

    Love you, my friend!

Long toenails are so gross. But I also can’t stand the sound of nails being clipped. I do mine when I’m fresh from the shower, but hubby doesn’t, so he usually waits until I’m two rooms away with the doors shut. I still hear him doing it. And I taught my 6 and 8 year old daughters to do their own.

I often say I have a “black thumb” and (this is horrible, but true) that I am a plant hospice, because I’m the last stop plants make before going to meet Jesus.

If I’m in a good mood (which is almost always, unless I’m under a time-crunch), I will sing almost everything instead of saying it. So if I walk into work and see my friend Chris, I sing, “Chris-tiii-iiine. How are you to-day?” at her.

My half-birthday is my daughter’s whole birthday, July 29. (And that means we’re practically WHOLE birthday partners, too!)

I also hate cleaning the slow cooker and feel like the liners are a waste of money. Plus the “good bits” get stuck in there!

I know nothing about make-up or hair. My sister did both for me at my wedding.

I hated broccoli until I was in college and then fell in love!

I hate singing because I think I sound horrible and I get embarrassed if my hubby hears me. (Side note, I love hearing my hubby singing in church!)

First of all, I can totally see the Alanis thing. I knew you reminded me of someone famous. I (or rather an old high school pic of me) was recently compared to D. J. Tanner from Full House. Sure wish I looked like Candice Cameron Bure now!

Let’s see…long toenails are repulsive to me, especially with a French manicure. Actually, I find feet, in general, pretty gross. I cannot stand to have mine touched. First, because they are painfully ticklish, and second, because… feet are gross. I also wear a larger shoe size after three pregnancies. I have several sets of holiday socks, but I rarely wear them, because they are uncomfortable to me. Just give me a nice pair of white, cotton socks any day. You will never find me sleeping in socks, though. Even on the coldest nights, If I attempt to wear them to bed, I will end up taking them off before the night is over. I enjoy singing, though I haven’t done it publicly for several years. I have sung solos in church many times, but the one and only time I sang karaoke was a disaster! Lol! Don’t get me started on humidity! Maybe someday I’ll allow you to see what happened when humidity collided with my 1992 spiral perm. Or maybe not. Ha!

My #1 ME TOO moment, though, was when you said you could go without pain meds after a c-section. People think I’m crazy, because I rarely use any type of pain medication after any type of medical procedure, including three c-sections. The stomach virus part? Not so much. I don’t think I’ve ever had one, because I have an iron stomach. Even with my pregnancies, I never had “typical” morning sickness.

I just realized how long this is. I could go on, but I won’t. Thanks for this post. I enjoyed getting to know more about you! I love the idea of celebrating half-birthdays (and have even considered giving my daughter half-birthday parties, because her actual birthday is in December), but technically, I don’t have one. I was born on the 31st of May, and since there is no November 31…Dec. 1??? I’m curious to see if there are any leap-year babies who respond to this post.

I hope I make the cut for “gal pal material,” rather than just getting cut for being long-winded! Lol! 😉

Julie, I love your blog! Your list made me laugh and had me agreeing, especially with slow cooker thing and eating good, yet still gaining weight!
    My 3:
    1. I like to read and when I finish a great book, I want the world to stop and experience it too or just talk about it to anyone who will listen!
    2. Sometimes when I try something new like Jesus kisses, my kids will say, “you got that from the happyhome fairy.” Yup, you’re popular at our house in Illinois!
    3. I Love do run fun 5Ks. This is new and I love it! Just me and the girls (9 & 11). Hubby likes to see the pics and hear about it, but not participating…yet!
Thanks for your post and helping mommies connect to each other and keeping God center focus of our happy homes.

Hey Julie!! Love This… one, I was just talking to my husband this weekend about you and your blog and how if we lived closer I know that we would be instant friends. I’ve been following you for years. Anyways, my name is Julie – first of many connections, my half birthday is only a weekish after yours (August 7th and I love celebrating 1/2 birthdays)! There are so many Me Too moments, but one of them is that I do nothing else until I find the lost thing (which is rare, because I usually know where everything is in my chaos).
    My other things are:
    1) I can not/will not stand on a drain in the shower and usually lift up my toes (stand tippy toe) if it is not my own shower (I think it was watching arachnophobia when I was younger but am not afraid of spiders).
    2) Have a fear of getting into a car accident and sometimes will visualize one in front of me as Im driving (weird I know)
    3) Met my husband in Las Vegas after my 21st birthday (a few dark years in my past). We dated long distance for 3 years and are celebrating our 9th anniversary next week!!!
Thanks for your awesome blog-I always LOVE reading it, laughing, or sharing a tear!! You are so real, authentic, funny, and a good momma/wife!

(My half birthday is Nov. 29th) I love your blog and have been following it for awhile now. I get so many great ideas from you and have enjoyed watching how well your sweet precious baby has been doing. I first discovered you when he was still so sick and I would keep you and your baby (and family) in my prayers.

Your list is great and we have many things in common.

    3 things about me

    1. I have 7 kids (6 boys and 1 girl) I wanted one more but never had any more
    2. I met my husband in Mexico when I was 18 (April 16th 1984)It was during Spring Break, I went to Mexico every month for 2 years, then on my last trip there I knew I couldn’t do that trip ever again. That night I smuggled him over the border and he never went back to live (he is completely legal, now) that was March 23rd 1986. We got married April 4, 1986 and just celebrated our 28th anniversary in April. He is a wonderful husband and a great dad.
    3. I eat sleep and breath scrapbooking and have more supplies then I need. I hold workshops and classes for anything paper crafting. I do card classes, scrapbooking classes, recipe classes and lately banner and framed art classes. YES I am obsessed and my hubby feeds my addiction and loves to see my pages or other projects I make.

Have a great day, your new friend

Foam hand soap fills me with unspeakable joy every time I use it.

I am both saddened and relieved that my 10 year old son no longer asks me to lie down with him every night before he goes to sleep.

I love helping older people in stores. I guess I miss my grandparents and dad…One day I was walking in to WM and I saw an older lady finishing up loading her car. “Something” told me to offer to take her cart, and instead of ignoring it, I did. She told me that she had just prayed for someone to take her cart for her so she wouldn’t have to walk it over to the cart corral. Wow. So thankful I didn’t just ignore it We never know when just the littlest thing we can do for something can be a blessing for both of you.

I teach PreK in Georgia and love your blog for parenting and Pre K ideas I used to teach in a church preschool and miss it, now I’m in a state run program and consider it a mission field. Paraphrasing something I saw on FB -“Kids who are loved at home come to school to learn. Kids who dont get the love and attention they need at home come to school to get love.” I pray everyday I show my PreK Kiddos the love of Jesus.

Hi Julie! LOOOOVE YOU and Happyhome fairy.com! I laughed like a fool over your list, especially about the toenail thing, which I TOTALLY agree with, but who, (except YOU:), writes it down on their blog??!!!?
Personally, I kinda freak out when I see someone with one lone, long fingernail(usually a pinky), or fingernails too long…just makes me sick thinking about what that one fingernail is used for and all the nastiness hiding underneath!
I, too, am hypothyroid AND have Raynaud’s, but now after years of testing ANA Positive, have had a recent test that came out negative, so who really knows, but the symptoms ARE freaky!
Oh, I have glaucoma, but side blessing is longer lashes because of the medicine, though sometimes they grow out of the inside corners of my eyes, like a werewolf.
I used to floss my teeth religiously 3 times a day, but now, not so much.
I don’t leave the house without makeup, at least eyeliner, mascara, a little coverup around the eyes, and lipstick, (what’s left?!), otherwise, even my own mother asks if I have been crying!
I have about as many bottles of vitamins in my fridge as food.
    My clothes are shrinking!!!!!
My memory is completely shot. I can only attribute this to motherhood and lack of sleep. I am embarrassed to say how bad it is.
I am heartbroken about our beautiful USA, but am reminded and comforted that God is in control!
My current life revolves around Christ and my precious family, but I have been selfish and independent as anyone.

You are making me a better person, friend and me! Thank you!!! Blessings, Tracy

    Friends:

YOUR blog is the only blog I actually read in it’s entirety, doesn’t sound like much of a compliment but I follow ALOT of blogs!! I just wanted to say that over the past year or so I have become very fond of you……sounds kinda weird but it’s true. I think of you and your family almost on a daily basis. I wonder how your youngest is doing, I worried when he was sick, I was so happy for you when you and the hubby got to go away a few months ago, I thought the way you and your husband went to the dollar store and made Easter baskets a few years ago was so sweet. This Easter I did all the activities that you posted on your blog……when I was doing them with my 7 year old she asked me about Jesus, not just a little, she was really curious, my heart broke, I realized that I had let my broken heart get in the way of her relationship with Jesus. After much thought I realized it wasn’t just a coincidence that I enjoyed your blog so much or that I felt a connection to you like I do, that God is so awesome and so grand that he used you, your blog, to speak to me…….and now my little one is saved! and we go to church every week. Thank you Jesus for my FRIEND Julie!

I loved this post, and yes, I can relate to several of yours! I love to sing, have my hair played with, I can’t leave trail mix (or peanut M & M’s alone), I don’t like disappointing people, and I enjoy folding laundry too! Some new things about me: I love back rubs/scratches, I absolutely shudder when someone says the “F” word., I love chocolate…like really, I am very impatient in traffic jams…would take a detour in a minute just to keep moving, I have several pairs of cheap sunglassess in various places,,since I am super sensitive!, I am still crazy (after 24 yrs) about my handsome pastor husband, love my kids (3 girls(2×20 years, 1-18) to pieces, I am super right-brained–loving music, art, crafts, etc! Well, that was more than three items…but, now you know just a few things about me!

    Have a blessed day!

Oh, and I am passionate to help young moms ( particularly those who choose to “stay-at-home”) to know and love Jesus AND encourage them in their parenting journey! Eeeeeeee! I smiled so big at many, many of these!! I love CDs!! I was, like, “What in the world?!?” when I went on Amazon and saw that an artist I was looking into for my daughter didn’t even have a CD option available! Plus, this downloading thing is harder, money-wise, on the artists (OK; I won’t stay there). Yes! We HAVE to be friends!

So, here’s a few of mine:
    * I HATE coffee (and, yes, I know “hate” is a strong word)!
    * I used to be a Shipt shopper and LOVED delivering an unexpected smile to my members (and, sometimes, store employees) on a random basis (i.e., Twizzlers the week of my birthday; popsicles when it was hot like Africa outside, or I knew they had kiddos; little bday presents for members’ kiddos; or first day of preschool doughnuts). Sounds like your mom would make a good Shipt shopper! : )
    * I let our puppy give me kisses on the lips. When my hubby witnessed it, he told our pup in such a cute tone, “Hey! She’s MY girl!” That made me all kinds of happy!

    Hello Julie!
I stumbled into your blog yesterday and I came back for more reading! So entertaining to read more about you!

“I wish that they made ‘Mom’ cars in the color yellow” is my wish too! I am a yellow fanatic since birth! When I was small, i used to get angry to my mom when she buys me things that are not in yellow! hehehe. Then I went to the university and my boardmates got crazy coz I had a yellow umbrella, yellow comb, etc. Then my class went to a fieldtrip and we all bought a souvenir and my boardmates got crazy again when I came home from the trip and I showed them the souvenir I bought — a yellow blouse! hahaha. And my dream car is a yellow volkswagen beetle, but as a mom of 2 toddler b0ys, a bettle is so small for us and I haven’t seen a nice yellow car aside from the yellow beetle.:) Maybe, when kids are big, I’ll finally have that yellow beetle.

    God bless you more Julie.

Hey!!! Long toenails are SOOOO creepy! I’m a physical therapist and I absolutely dread working on peoples feet because of their toenails. I don’t leave home without mascara and I love my family fiercely. I found your site while looking for simple Bible verses for my oldest daughter’s (7, almost 8) advent calendar. I LOVE the advent cards and I enjoy hearing her read scripture. I have another daughter, turning 3 in a few weeks, who was recently diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. At first we thought it was pretty mild but as time goes by and the terrible 2s fade into the 3s we are seeing how much more involved things are. It’s a challenge because what might be one step back for other kids can be 5 steps back for her. But oh how my mommy heart loves that little girl. God has taught me and blessed me with a truckload more patience than I had before. Love the insight and encouragement I’ve found here. A family focused on God is a happy family. And as my almost 3 year old says, “Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart. I promise.” ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Galatians 5:13 says, “For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.”

The Lord gave us some helpful instructions on freedom and we are very much in need of them! May we set our gaze not on division and fighting, but on asking God how we can be a part of the solution - small, faithful acts of Spirit-led love every day to the people in our world.

It is here in America where we can freely and confidently respond to Zion’s request to gather as a family in the living room to pray for the leg pains he has been having. We can bake muffins in our kitchens, leave surprises at someone’s doorstep, share a Bible verse with the grocery store employee, and worship on Sunday with friends.

These freedoms were purchased at a great cost, as many chose to lay down their lives in an ultimate act of love. May we remember. And may that remembering lead us right back to Galatians 5:13 and Jesus’ ultimate act of love. This holy inspiration is what we need to rise each day in humble gratitude for freedom in Christ to pour out, serve, and build His kingdom here on earth!

Happy Birthday America! 🥳

You are strong, creative, full of integrity, purity, wit, fun, wisdom, care, responsibility, discernment, intelligence, and love. We could not be more proud of you!!! ❤️🧡💛

Happiest of birthdays, bruh! 😎
  • Just really grateful that everyone is smiling! We love you, Hollywood Beach! ☀️🌊🌴
  • This passage really encouraged me recently! It comes from Jeremiah 17:7-8.

I’m drawn to passages that describe the fruit of a person who loves and trusts God. This is what we are offered every single day in Christ! But I definitely don’t *feel* fruitful, steady, and confident every single day! I am often tossed around by my circumstances, ruled by my emotions, distracted by worldly pleasures, and basically overthinking everything in the universe.

Interesting that the verses just before it say,

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength…he shall not see when good comes…”

Maybe we get so focused on what everyone around us has or is doing that we miss standing confident on all the good he is sending into our own lives. We grasp at “if onlys” and “what ifs” so regularly that we are paralyzed to see good or do any good for Him.

Put your hope in God! Look at Him! Command your soul to remember. Stop scrolling. Look your people in the eye. Do something kind for someone! Choose to not be the main character! Tell the overthinking part of your brain to be quiet and thank God instead. Even when it is hard! Deep roots are never formed without some struggle.

This is where we get to be blessed, sisters. Trusting in Jesus (even when it looks a little desperate and needy) will produce strong, fruitful, and confident women in the Lord! 💛🧡❤️💙🩵💚
  • My parents are moving. 😢

The last 2 weeks have been so sweet. Just soaking up time together… in their home… for the last time.

It’s weird to see everything empty, but if there’s one thing I have learned, it is that home is where your mom and dad are! It has little to do with spaces and decor and everything to do with hearts and spirits.

May we all create homes of love and light and warmth. ✨It travels with you wherever you have to go.✨

I’m grateful they won’t be too far away. And they are already planning to come back for a visit in 2 weeks. 😂

Love you so much, Mom and Dad. You are forever my home! ❤️‍🩹
  • I don’t always share my fries when they ask. It’s been a long time since I’ve stuck a note in their lunch boxes. I handed over a load of stinky laundry that I let sit too long before moving to the dryer for them to put away because I didn’t have the energy to rewash it. I am not the best listener when I am stressed. I sometimes cry in front of them listening to worship on the way to work because I’m desperate and needy. I fuss about the level of mess in the house almost daily.

I am not a perfect mom. Most days I’m tired and feel like I am failing.

But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever!

If I had to stand on one thing in motherhood it would be that I am certainly not enough, but Jesus is. He is filling in every gap. He is meeting every need I don’t. He is working and moving in spite of me. Praise God for that amazing grace! And He loves that I keep showing up and needing Him. He loves that I seek His face always. Even when I’m being fussy and wrestling with the parts of me that are selfish and wanting.

Because God is my shepherd - I won’t be wanting. I won’t be wanting to have the perfect home or perfect circumstances. May the Lord find me wanting and hungry for more of Him in my mothering. I hope they will see that hunger more than my hunger for fries. And I pray they will learn to hunger for Him, too.

**Only He can satisfy.**

Happy Mother’s Day, dear ones! God is enough for you! 💝

  • Woohoo! 🥳 The kids are at Grammie’s and we went to a wedding! Got to get dressed up, see Ryan rock it as the “professional officiant” (this is what the wedding coordinator called him), eat a free steak, and even dance a little! 💃🏼🪩

My favorite thing that Ryan said during the ceremony was that God made Adam wait for Eve. He paraded all the Mr. and Mrs. animals in front of him long enough until Adam’s longing matched God’s good gift. The timing was then right, Adam was ready to fully appreciate and treasure his Mrs. “Man”.

To be honest, I almost didn’t attend the wedding with Ryan! I wasn’t feeling great and the idea of being home without kids all day to catch up on cleaning and laundry was pretty appealing. But the little nudge in me said DO NOT MISS THIS. I wanted to hear Ryan’s message and watch him lead this precious couple’s ceremony. I knew it was important to him that I be there. So because I treasure him, I went.

And I wasn’t the only one treasuring today! Ryan thanked me for coming with him, he danced with me even though I knew he would rather die than be on the dance floor, and he let me run into the store on the way home to end the day with some chocolate.

So here’s to treasuring one another - looking first to your spouse’s interests before your own, being their biggest fan, and telling them they look super hot in the fancy suit.

I mean, after all, he is a professional. 😁

🎉 NOAH is 16! 🎉

Writing this while you are playing a game of hockey with your little brothers in the living room - because you are awesome and love making your little brothers happy. You are commentating the entire game, complete with buzzer sound effects and crowd cheers. 🥅🏒📣

Moving to a new school this year was not easy. We had some hard times, some big disappointments, some dreams crushed… but you didn’t give up. You kept showing up, believing good is always on the way in God’s plans. And sure enough, you’ve made some new friends, discovered a new passion for running, gave it your all, and even rocked a mullet. 😅

You are strong, creative, full of integrity, purity, wit, fun, wisdom, care, responsibility, discernment, intelligence, and love. We could not be more proud of you!!! ❤️🧡💛

My parents are moving.

I don’t always share my fries when they ask.

✝️💐HAPPY EASTER💐✝️

Easter 2025 Thoughts >>

Been off of social media for Lent and it’s been amazing. Never underestimate the power of a good fast. There is fullness of the Lord to be had! 🙌🏻

This morning we woke up early for Easter service rehearsal. But one kiddo wouldn’t get out of bed, one kiddo was crying about having to wear a collared shirt, one experimented with some Easter basket goodies in the bathroom without my knowledge and there was a strange purple substance all over everything just as we really needed to get out the door, and one was dealing with an upset stomach the whole drive to church.

Meanwhile I’m yelling at everyone to JUST BE HAPPY BECAUSE JESUS IS RISEN!!!!!

I wish it hadn’t taken me this long in motherhood to learn that the chaos and mess and poop emergencies are the real stuff of life. You can wallow in the badness of it all on such a special morning, or you can remember that all the crazy is really why He came to do what He did. To offer PEACE in the chaos, JOY in the mess, a steady heart when someone’s about to have an accident in the car in their Easter outfit (that they hate anyways).

Joy comes in the morning, friends, and joy comes in the MOMENT. He died and rose again to make sure of it.

God bless you! ✝️💐🙌🏻😁
