Happy belated Easter!
After church services, we headed to Grandmommy’s house for the annual Grandchildren Egg Hunt. I don’t know if you remember, but I mentioned this event last year HERE as it is kind of a big deal.
Every year one of the grandkids gets to find the ‘Golden Egg’ and take home a giant stuffed Easter toy.
Happy Buddy won last Easter and let’s just say that his bunny is about the size of a pyramid. There have been many occasions where I have gone into his room at night to check on him and have been startled to not find one trace of a human in his bed, but rather an enormous Easter toy.
Guess who’s turn it was to find the Golden Egg this year?
Can we pause for a minute and digest what this means?
That now I need to literally buy a new house just to store these monstrosities. 🙂
This happens to be the final year of giant stuffed toys because would you believe that EVERY grandchild has one now?
My sister-in-law, who has 4 girls, thought it would be fun to take a photo featuring every grandkid with his/her Golden Egg prize (well, minus Happy Buddy’s because in all the Easter extravaganza that was our morning before leaving for church at 6:30 am – reference THIS POST – I totally forgot).
As her 4 girls lined up for the picture – each carrying a huge animal, I looked at her in awe and said, “Girl, how in the world did you manage to keep these around for so many years?”
And she looked back at me with crazy eyes and said, “Oh there’s going to be a bunny burning after we take this photo.”
We both laughed and laughed because MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING. 🙂
But you know we jest about this (sort of). I see how happy those huge bunnies make my boys and I see how precious it is to have a Grandmommy who loves her family so much she would plan such fun memories and traditions and it makes it all worth it.
In other news, we happened to get a few good family photos after the egg hunt! This was the result of the Lord as well as an intense pep talk by Daddy in the car before we arrived. I believe defund your college accounts, suspend all Easter candy, and trash duty for a year was given as the inspiration for appropriate picture-taking behavior. 😉
I should probably Photoshop in the 2 bunnies because, after all, they are practically a part of the family.
🙂
Happy Easter, dear ones. Thank you so much for following this little blog and supporting me as I share what the Lord puts in my heart for you! You bless me more than you will ever know!
Joyfully,
Julie
