I am going to be for real here… The Happy Hubs and I are not huge celebrators of New Year’s.
We joke that we’re a couple of old people because our buns are in bed on the 31st usually before ten!
With that said, however, I am quite fond of that giant, sparkly ball that drops in Times Square (even though I don’t usually get to see it because I am sleeping).
So here are some fun ideas that will help your Happy Home have a ball this New Year’s Eve (if you can make it to midnight!).

One nice thing about living on the west coast is that we celebrate and watch the ball drop in NY at 9:00pm our time and then don’t feel like we missed out! Sleep is more important, especially with kids! 🙂 Wanted to say that we printed your countdown printable last year and laminated it. Just hung it up today! Happy New Year!

This year, I am planning to try an idea I read about called New Year’s bags – similar to your gift balls, except I am putting the little gifts into separate bags (I’m using 5 brown lunch bags for each child, so 10 total.) Then, I made paper clocks from bright copy paper to attach to the outside of each bag and got really fun fireworks looking bows to decorate them. I have a bag for each of my kids to open each hour as we countdown until “midnight” – we will start at 5:00 pm and open a bag, then another at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 (when we watch the NYC ball drop!)
