I have had a burden to teach my kids more about Jesus.
Deuteronomy 11:19 says, “Teach these laws to your children. Talk about these things when you sit in your houses, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up.”
I certainly don’t talk about Him that often, but I want to! I just get so easily distracted!
So I am starting a new series here at Happy Home Fairy. It will be called Simple Illustrations for Kids and every once in awhile I will bring you a post with a quick way you can take a simple item from around your house and turn it into a powerful message of God’s love for your kids.
Today you will need a Bible and a bottle of vitamins!
Read Joshua 1:8 to your kiddos,
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Say, “Kids, God tells us to think about His Word all the time – day and night! When we do this, He tells us that we will be able to make good decisions and honor Him.
Now look at this bottle of vitamins. Why do we take vitamins every day? (To help us stay healthy.) God’s Word is like taking our daily vitamins. When we read it and think about it every day we will be strong and healthy in the Lord.”
Then let your kids each have a vitamin.

Nice! Maybe you could keep a jar of Bible verses near your vitamins and pull one out to read and talk about briefly each day when the kids get their vitamins.
