One of my favorite things about Christmas is Christmas stockings!
I absolutely love and prefer lots of little gifts as opposed to one big gift. It is so fun to receive a stocking filled with fun trinkets! And I love putting together stockings for my boys.
But with all the busyness of the season, sometimes it can be hard to come up with what to put inside your kiddos’ stockings.
So, this year I would like to make your job easy.
I came up with 8 traditional items for a Christmas stocking that you can pair with my FREE Printable Christ-centered tags! Simple and meaningful!
I found everything at my local drugstore.
Orange
I have read that it is tradition to have a nice big, juicy orange in the bottom of your stocking. Oranges were considered a special treat, especially during lean years like the Great Depression and World Wars. My kids don’t eat oranges, but I think they will eat one covered in chocolate. 😉

Toothbrush/Toothpaste
My mom always put oral hygiene items in our stockings!
Tag >> “Jesus washes your sins away!”
PlayDoh
My kiddos love getting a fresh can of PlayDoh. Smells so good, right?!
Tag >> “Jesus loves you DOH much!”
Candy Cane
Candy canes make a perfect stocking stuffer. I got one filled with Hershey Kisses, but the traditional mint ones would work great, too!
Tag >> “Jesus is the Reason for the Season!”
Bandaids
My kids go through Bandaids so quickly! I like to throw a box of fun character ones into their stockings.
Tag >> “Jesus heals our hurts!”
Crayons
There is nothing like a fresh box of crayons. Kids can always use more!
Tag >> “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Socks
A new pair of cozy socks is a great stocking stuffer.
Tag >> “Walk in the light, as He is in the light.”
Sunglasses/Nightlight/Glowsticks
What a blessing that Jesus came as the light of the world on Christmas! A new pair of sunglasses, nightlight, or even glow-in-the-dark stars would be a perfect stocking surprise.
Tag >> “Jesus is the light of the world!”
Did I just make your job easier? I hope so!

Thanks for making this! I was just looking real quickly this morning for some ideas for some random acts of kindness to do with my kids and niece/sister-in-law later. We wanted to stop at the Dollar Tree and find some little gifts to leave for people so this is perfect!
