I’ll bet your kids are still talking about the Apple Star story and activity from yesterday!
For today’s Apple Activity you may need a quick trip to Wal-Mart, or you may have the materials on hand…
Materials Needed –
- Red, yellow, and green tissue paper, cut into squares
- Clear contact paper
- Red and green construction paper
Day 2 Apply Activity – Stained Glass Apples
This idea is from Mrs. Nelson
Step 1 – Cut out an apple frame from the red construction paper. Make sure the apple frame is open in the middle (see picture).
Step 2 – Stick the apple frame onto a piece of clear contact paper. Add a leaf for the stem.
Step 3 – Stick small tissue paper squares to the contact paper.
Step 4 – Hang in the window… They are beautiful!!
A great idea – Write the following Bible verse around the rim of your apple before sticking it to the contact paper: “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 17:8
The kids love making these and the finished product looks so gorgeous hanging in the window. A total touch of Fall.
Apple Activity at Dinner –
Have a Taste-Testing Party around the dinner table. Cut up several different varieties of apples (Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, etc.). Go around the table and have family members try one of each different kind of apple. Everyone must share which one was their favorite and why!
Dessert Bonus – After Taste-Testing, dunk all of those delicious apple slices in this heavenly dip…
Apple Dip of Heaven
Ingredients: 1 (8 oz) pkge cream cheese (softened), 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 T vanilla extract
Directions: Stir everything together until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Toss some toffee bits on top for a scrumptious addition! Dip apple slices in and enjoy!
Apple Joke –
Q. Why did Eve want to move to New York?
A. Because she fell for the Big Apple! 🙂
(Just as a side note, it has never been a proven fact that the apple was the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. I just thought I’d clear that up and help relieve the bad rep this awful rumor has given apples! :-))

Ooo, could we try that dip recipe? That sounds amazing. Noah was admiring our apple stained glass this morning while you were at the gym. I had to stop him from pulling it down and eating it (he thought it was delicious-looking).

YOU BET I REMEMBER THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you and I could still work together!!!!!!!!!! It was heaven being able to work with a brilliant artist and sister in Christ! I kept the apple cutout you made for the rest of my BCS teaching career and did it every year with my class! Love you!

Thank you so much for your comments on my blog….loved hearing from you! You’re awesome!!
Also, I make this same apple dip, except I blend the toffee bits in with it. So unhealthy but divine 🙂

Thanks for the fun apple days! I just did the apple stained glass craft with my 4 year old and it was fun, easy and free! My 3 requirements! Found your blog from googling “decorating your home for fall”. I’m using that idea as well:)
