When our second son, Jethro, was born, he immediately had to go into the NICU because he was in respiratory distress.
That was the start of an almost 100-day hospital stay.
Noah was a toddler at the time and juggling life between home and hospital was so tricky. I often found myself unable or forgetting to take care of myself!
During that time, we felt so abundantly carried by our friends and family. One of the best and most practical ways someone blessed us in that season was with a giant bag of snacks. It had lots of healthy options and was such a help to me as I found things I could easily eat on-the-go.
My friend’s husband is currently in the hospital. She is trying to navigate a full-time job in addition to caring for her husband. She drives straight to the hospital after work and stays there until late. I was hoping to bless her in the same way I was blessed.
With a bag of snacks!I found all of the items above at Target! Including the cute polka-dotted reusable bag.
One thing I tried to keep in mind while selecting snacks was to balance sweet with savory and to choose items that are easy to consume while on-the-go. I tried to stay away from anything that required refrigeration.
Here is a list of some easy snack ideas…
- Individual popcorn or chip bags
- Individual bags of trail mix
- Peanut butter crackers or individual packs of peanut butter
- Protein bars/Granola bars
- Travel-size cereal boxes
- Individual servings of oatmeal
- Dried nuts and fruits
- Gum/Mints
- Anything with caffeine!
- Water bottles or flavored water cans
- Vitamins
- Hand sanitizer
Let me know if you are able to use this idea to bless someone that you know!
Joyfully,
Julie 🙂
