One Month

Today the Happy Baby is one month old. :-)

He is weaned off of oxygen (yay!) but he still needs a lot of pressure blown into his lungs to help them fully inflate (thus that crazy looking tube thing on his head.  I wept the first time I saw him wearing it!  But now I refer to it as his Superhero Hat.  All superheroes wear something on their heads, right??).

The medicine he is taking for the virus is working so far!  His blood work shows that the virus levels have dropped considerably.

But… he is still having breathing issues.

And because of his rapid breathing, the doctors do not want him to nurse or use a bottle for fear that he might aspirate and develop pneumonia.

Thus that tube-y thing coming out of his mouth.

SO.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions.

Every day is a bit of a roller coaster.

But we are trusting in Jesus.

We are clinging to His Word.

And believing that this little guy is going to have an uber awesome ministry one day as he shares how God SAVED his life – in more ways than one. :-)

Much love and thanks,

Julie

“He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation. ”

Psalm 91:15-16

  1. We are praying. Knowing that God loves him even more than you do!! WOW!! That is a lot of love. Thanks for the update, when you get past the tubes it is easy to see that he is a very handsome young man. We love you all.

  2. Your trials with happy baby make my heart so sad, but at the same time your amazing faith is an inspiration of the principle of displacement. I am learning about that in a bible study called one on one with god. I pray that god gives you the peace and strength you need each day. I also pray that your faith can be a testiment to others who might not be christians and as an inspiration to those christians that need to be renewed. Much love from a stranger! :)

  3. Praying for your family. The scripture that you quoted is my absolute favorite chapter in the Bible. God has him “under his wings” like he said earlier in that chapter. Rely on him, and pray without ceasing. :)

  4. Thank you for the update! I am praying for you all, looking forward to the superhero’s testimony. :) Rest in Him!

  5. Dearest Julie,
I continue to pray for the Happy Baby, you and your sweet family. I read a devotional yesterday that brought you to mind….”There will be a day when you will look back and see how God’s sovereign hand was at work. Truth is, He is in the center of the situation that troubles your heart right now. He’s right in the middle of it. Look for Him, trust Him—He is at work.”
May God wrap you in His loving arms; may you feel His peace that passes all understanding as you take each day, moment by moment, trusting that the one who loves you most! “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20 NLT

  6. Superhero indeed! Your little guy has already touched so many hearts and brought so many people to prayer. He has strengthened our faith and brought us closer to God. All this in his first month of life. I can only imagine what the future lessons from him will be! May you continue to be blessed!

  7. Oh, Julie, your faith is so strong. You have a an angel from heaven and he is a little warrior. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your sweet little boy and his older brother.

  8. What an encouragement you are to me…even in your incredible situation and sleep deprivation! Thank you for sharing your faith and awesome ideas. It blesses me so much!

  9. You are an inspiration to all mothers. Your continued Faith and trust in Our Lord is inspiring. THANK YOU for that.
    Love,
    Anne

  10. Hi Julie,

I just wanted to say that even though we’ve never met, and I’m far away in Australia, I find myself thinking of you and praying for your baby often. I find myself wondering how things are going and am amazed by your constant faith. You are an inspiration. I pray that your happy baby gets stronger and the virus goes away. I pray that the Doctors find the answer for you and the reason this is happening. I pray that your faith remains strong.
Thinking of you all the way from Down Under,
    Meg xo

  11. Julie & Ryan, I pray daily for baby Jet throughout the day and during the night if I awake. The LORD has placed your sweet baby on the hearts of so many of us. Thank you for sharing this journey with us and encouraging so many in the midst of your pain.
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.” Lamentations 3:22-24
    Love, Marla

  12. Happy One month to Jethro! Prayers and hugs for you all. Know that we are thinking and praying for you everyday! Love you…xoxoxoxo

  13. We were fortunate that I was already wearing a CPAP mask before the baby started wearing one. Keep on kangarooing. It really makes a difference. Will they let you kangaroo for 3 to 4 hours at a time? They can do all the medical stuff while he is on you. That might even provide him with more comfort and strength. P.S Keep pumping. Every drop later (no matter how many or few) will make a big difference in his immunity. Prayers always.

  14. SO much love and prayers to your family…continue to give Jesus your burdens sweet friend, and know that you are being lifted up by so many who are deeply encouraged at how you are walking through this time! Praise God for doing beyond what we all ask or imagine in this little one’s life!

  15. every good gift and perfect gift comes from OUR LORD.. KJV..
