It’s pretty hard to resist a brand new package of crayons.
The Happy Hubby and I were snuggling on the couch the other night and instead of watching the particular show that was on the television, I was staring at a new box of crayons – waiting for inspiration to hit.
It didn’t take long before The Crayon Date idea arrived.
First I grabbed two large sheets of white paper.
Then I set up two chairs facing each other at our dining room table.
Next I laid out the new, super pointy and fresh crayons.
Finally, I got the hubs and informed him that we were going to be Crayola-ing some portraits of one another.
*We decided to keep things PG, but if you’re feeling inspired to get all Jack and Rose Titanic kind of portrait – go for it! :-)*
The Happy Hubby got right to work.
He is such a good sport – always going along with my nutty brilliant schemes. As you can see, he took this project very seriously – pouring a lot of love into each colorful stroke.
We shared quite a few laughs as we created.
Plus, we’ve been so super busy lately that it was nice to just take some time to sit and actually look one another in the eyes (to make sure we picked just the right shade of crayon).
Here’s what I Picasso-ed for the Happy Hubby…I thought he looked pretty h-o-t. 🙂
Then came his turn to reveal my portrait.
I have to admit, I was kind of nervous because at one point the Happy Hubby started pounding with the red crayon all over my face.
He informed me that the red spots were not chicken pox.
Apparently he was just making sure to include my glitter. 🙂
I love that my man knows me so well. You can bet I hung our works of art on the fridge right away.
In the morning when the Happy Buddy discovered them, he burst out laughing at the drawing of yours truly, claiming it to be a “Silly picture of Mommy!” and that Daddy’s picture was “All clean.”
🙂
We were pretty impressed that he recognized who the portraits were of at all!
I guess if blogging and worship leading doesn’t work out in the long run, the Happy Hubby and I have a future in art. 🙂
I hope you will try The Crayon Date with your Happy Hubby!!
Happy Crayon Date-ing! 🙂
