One of my goals lately has been to try to help my boys understand that God has a big giant heart for the ‘least of these’ and that He has entrusted some of the world’s needs to our care.
I want my boys to look for ways to help others and acknowledge that we have the tremendous privilege of being God’s hands and feet to the hurting and the hungry.
I don’t know about you, but where we live, whenever we pull off of a highway and we’re waiting at the light, there is always someone standing there with a sign.
A sign that reveals the person’s greatest needs – homeless, hungry, etc.
I have been feeling so convicted about all of the drives where we have flown right by that person without so much as a backward glance.
I’ve been wanting to make these cute Blessing Bags, but to be honest, life is just too nuts right now and funds too low to make as many as I would like, so we opted for something a little more simple…
Now I have a stash in my car to pass out whenever we come across a need.
It’s not much, but it’s something.
And I pray that it is modeling for my boys how God wants us to love.

Love your idea! Over the years I have carried water, inexpensive knit gloved, with a few dollars tucked in them.
Recently, I have been making journeys from the desert to the sea.
I always Stop for gas at the same station. At this particular stop there are always homeless men
I have been handing out A banana and a bottle of water.
They have all been so grateful. What a blessing to love on the ones who many consider unlovable. God bless you as you continue to share Jesus with your boys.
Wow! Absolutely amazing…I, like so many people, feel convicted 99% of the time when I see someone asking for help…Especially recently, when i saw a man with three little girls in a red wagon beside the road holding a sign…I was in a turning lane when I saw them and the light had changed so I couldn’t stop…But I felt guilty all the way home and prayed God would show me what to do…Like what could I have done?…This is a wonderful idea to have something ready…and in the case of children, you could have a package with small toys, books, etc…The dollar store is a treasure trove of ideas…Of course, some dollar bills and FOOD are biggies…Thanks so much for sharing…
That is a great idea, We have gone to the dollar store and gotten a few items to put in them, water bottle, something sweet, the meat and crackers, socks, apple sauce put them in a baggie. I like the idea of adding a little note. I have found that I should keep only one or two in the car and then add as needed.
That’s so sweet and the scissors are the cutetest.
We always carry granola bars to hand out, but found out this weekend that we need some softer items as a woman we met had no teeth and couldn’t accept the granola bar. I found some soft, cookie-like bars that are individually wrapped and will keep those for those times, now!
This sign would be cute to use with “snowballs”…..those little two-to-a-pack snowballs with the chocolate cake
inside and the pink marshmallow frosting on the outside with coconut…..I used to love to see those in my lunch box in grade school!
