Teething in Style – GIVEAWAY!

chewbeads2

I don’t really remember teething being such a big deal when the Happy Buddy was a baby.

Aside from some major drool-age, he sort of woke up one morning and had teeth.

The Happy Baby, however, is a different story.

When this little man gets a tooth, it’s like a full body experience.

There’s fatigue, his hypotonia flares, he loses a ton of weight, gets massively congested, and there is some barfing.

Sometimes I feel like he only gets a few days of rest before another pearly white decides to make its journey to the surface.

chewbeads3The most prominent teething symptom of the Happy Baby’s teething, though, is CHEWING.

Pretty much every piece of furniture in our house has bite marks.

I am not even kidding when I tell you that the leg on a chair in our dining room has been practically whittled to a twig. 🙂

The other day when I came upon the Happy Baby chewing on the Happy Hubby’s flip-flop, I was determined to find another way.

I mean, I am learning to let go a bit more about germs and things, but a SHOE?!  C’mon people, we have ducks that leave big ole’ poopies on our sidewalk…  I am not okay with him putting a shoe in his mouth!

chewbeads1So when I came across Chewbeads, I felt the light of heaven shine down and I heard a chorus of angels.

One of the Happy Baby’s favorite things to chew (besides shoes, apparently) are my necklaces.

If I have anything around my neck, it will instantly take up residence in his mouth.

Most of my jewelry is from Claire’s – yup, that’s true, I am a 12-year-old trapped in a 30-year-old body – so I would imagine the paints and materials they use are filled with more chemicals than the periodic table of elements.  Not to mention the fear of my inexpensive jewelry breaking mid-chew and becoming a choking hazard.  Eeek!

chewbeads5Chewbeads, on the other hand, are perfectly designed for a baby.

Cute, bright, chic jewelry for moms to wear – soft, non-toxic, un-breakable jewelry for baby to chew.

A total win-win!

chewbeads7

The Happy Baby LOVES my Chewbeads (shown here as the Jane Necklace in Sunshine Yellow).  Just look at the chomp he has on that thing!

And I love the chunky design and all of the fun color choices.

I feel way more stylin’ in my Chewbeads than my usual Claire’s bling!  Plus, I know I am investing in my baby’s health. 🙂

Chewbeads offers other options beyond necklaces as well.  Bracelets (which make a helpful little reminder of which side you nursed last), teethers, and even a special collection of jewelry designed for little girls.

You want to make everyone oooo and ahhhh at the next baby shower?  Give the mom-to-be some Chewbeads!

And if their product wasn’t awesome enough, the customer service is even better.

The gals at Chewbeads have offered 1 FREE Jane Chewbeads Necklace to one super fabulous Happy Home Fairy reader!

chewbeads4Here’s what you have to do to be entered to win your very own Chewbeads Necklace…

1.  LIKE the Chewbeads’ Facebook page.

2.  LIKE Happy Home Fairy’s Facebook page.

3.  Leave a comment below sharing a story from your own teething experiences with your Happy Buddies (did your Happy Buddies chew through furniture or shoes?  Do you have a drool machine?  We want to hear all about it!).

4.  Don’t forget to include your NAME and EMAIL and confirmation that you completed steps 1 and 2.

Winner will be notified by email by June 1st.  I will also announce it here on Happy Home Fairy. 🙂

*You must be a resident of the 48 continental United States.*

Happy Chewbeads Giveaway-ing!

*I may or may not have air-brushed some blemishes off my cheeks in these photos.  My jewelry store choice isn’t the only thing reflective of my inner 12-year-old!  Ha!* 🙂

Sharing is caring!

I love the idea of something easy and fun for the kids to teeth on! I am always looking for way to console a teething child as we travel a lot! My daughter was sitting in my lap on the airplane, I had a tube in my bag that she was chewing in and ended up slipping open at the bottom! Red, sticky and gooey goo was everywhere! It was a mess, my 2 year old had hands in it and soon it had migrated to the person next to us on their white trousers! I was slightly red and embasrrased and a kind mom behind me handed me a scarf to wrap over my shirt as I was exiting the plane.

I have liked both pages on facebook and would love a set of beads!
    Thanks!

Hi!! I would love to win a Chewbeads necklace! I love them!! I have wanted one for a long time and just haven’t taken the plunge to purchase one (the silly budget can be tight at times, ok a lot of times!) I have drooled over them myself numerous times at a cute maternity boutique in my area. I love the concept of my baby chewing on something safe! My sweet 13 month only has 2 teeth and I’m waiting for the others to appear! He too gets fussy when a tooth is trying to cut and tugs on his ears too. I would so love fashionably wear a Chewbeads necklace!

Oh my! #1 was a drooler and left his crib a sight to behold! #2 bit her HAND for crying out loud! I figured that was better than someone else, but her poor hand was raw. We’ll see what #3 ends up doing…but I’d LOVE to be prepared with a Chewbeads necklace. Finished the above steps!

My daughter was not into chewing on my necklaces. She didn’t put as much random stuff into her mouth. My son is a whole other story! He has broken countless necklaces from grabbing them off my neck so he can chew them. That’s why I think these are great–because I don’t have to worry about losing yet another necklace to his mouth, and they have that breakaway clasp so I’m not losing my neck too. Oh and the babies at church are always trying to eat my jewelry so even though there’s some grossness with sharing my necklace being chewed, it’d be better than what’s going on now 🙂

I have two toddlers, I would had loved to use chewbeads for both of them. They would chew on anything they could get their mouths on. I hadn’t heard about chewbeads until last year when my sister introduced me to them. She bought the turquoise one to use for her son. It is so cute and fashionable. I love it! Now that she is due with her 3rd baby in December, I would love to be able to give her another one for her new baby! I completed #1 and #2! Thank you, Ashley

I have 5 kids and all of them had a different takes/styles of teething, but the most interesting one was my 4th child, my 2nd boy. His teeth just refused to break through and come in. He was almost 2 years old before his first tooth finally broke through the skin. He had countless x-rays and exams and visits to the dentist and orthodontist because they couldn’t figure out why his teeth just wouldn’t come through. He chewed on everything he could get his hands or mouth on. It was a very long 2 years and I wish these would of been around then, but am so glad they are now available. Now the grandchildren are starting and I’m curious to see which one will be the one to have the same situation. I knew that chewing on these specially designed teething tools would of helped his teeth come through sooner..

indeed one of the worst experiences of teething, I was in a breast feeding support group session with at least 10 other moms when my son Jagger started to cry. I went out into the lobby to calm him down, but it only got worse. At first people stared and smiled and after 20 minutes the smiles turned to frowns. I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t go back into my support group and luckily had my car keys. I got to the car and tried soothing him, (I didn’t know at the time he was cutting a tooth). After rocking and singing he fell asleep and I feel apart, crying quietly…

My happy little one chews on the most random things when she is teething, but never teethers. At least none of the ones we have tried to date. So far, it seems her favorite thing to chew on is also my worst nightmare…. rocks! Yikes, talk about scary. She does know she’s not supposed to, but she just can’t seem to help it, she’ll run outside find a rock, hold it for awhile then look at me and grin and start to suck and chew. I’m seriously scared for her pearly white little teeth. The Dr. and Dentist have both assured me that as long as I take them away she can’t do any serious damage and that she will grow out of this stage once she gets all her chompers in. I’m secretly hoping their right, although I’m not sure I wholly believe them at this point. She’ll also chew on shoes (although not the bottoms), the straps of the baby carrier, my hoodie and jacket cords if she can and the occasional board book – there are two in particular that seem to be her favorites. We’ve also recently discovered some marks on the crib… guess it will need a fresh coat of paint before we ever decide to reuse it again. Thanks for the tip on these awesome necklaces and other jewelry, we’ll have to go and check them out, although not sure the budget will allow the splurge right now. Maybe in the future or with our next.

Mine has been a drooled since 3 months…we got an amber necklace which helped and the first two bottom teeth were no problem….then came the top teeth….sleepless night, shorter naps, fussy babe, and only one top tooth with the other one just laughing at us as we struggle through….would love to have one of these to help the teeth “pop”:)

My daughter has become a biter and not only does she bite me, my nephew, and her father, she has also taken to biting the high chair, the straw of her sippy and her newest is sticking her hand so far in her mouth it results in a vomit mess…poor thing! I’m hoping to nip this problem in the bud fast and prevent it for the next arrival, due in September.

I remember wishing I had this for my son who always chewed on anything he could get in his mouth. He is 5 years old now and yet I still remember (and probably always will) the many times of pulling dirty flip flops out of his mouth. So wrong!
I have had the easy teethers and some hard. Our son chewed his bed for about 6 months before we could get him to stop. Something about that wood….I decided he needed more fiber. If I picture his bed, I can only imagine what your chair leg looks like!
I currently have a 6- month-old girl who just started teething. She will pull anything she can into her mouth and chomp down with a vengence. No teeth yet, but I can see them coming, so probably soon.
I ‘liked’ the chewbeads site and already did the happy home fairy page on facebook.

Galatians 5:13 says, “For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.”

The Lord gave us some helpful instructions on freedom and we are very much in need of them! May we set our gaze not on division and fighting, but on asking God how we can be a part of the solution - small, faithful acts of Spirit-led love every day to the people in our world.

It is here in America where we can freely and confidently respond to Zion’s request to gather as a family in the living room to pray for the leg pains he has been having. We can bake muffins in our kitchens, leave surprises at someone’s doorstep, share a Bible verse with the grocery store employee, and worship on Sunday with friends.

These freedoms were purchased at a great cost, as many chose to lay down their lives in an ultimate act of love. May we remember. And may that remembering lead us right back to Galatians 5:13 and Jesus’ ultimate act of love. This holy inspiration is what we need to rise each day in humble gratitude for freedom in Christ to pour out, serve, and build His kingdom here on earth!

Happy Birthday America! 🥳

You kept showing up, believing good is always on the way in God’s plans. And sure enough, you’ve made some new friends, discovered a new passion for running, gave it your all, and even rocked a mullet. 😅

You are strong, creative, full of integrity, purity, wit, fun, wisdom, care, responsibility, discernment, intelligence, and love. We could not be more proud of you!!! ❤️🧡💛

Happiest of birthdays, bruh! 😎
  • Just really grateful that everyone is smiling! We love you, Hollywood Beach! ☀️🌊🌴
  • This passage really encouraged me recently! It comes from Jeremiah 17:7-8.

I’m drawn to passages that describe the fruit of a person who loves and trusts God. This is what we are offered every single day in Christ! But I definitely don’t *feel* fruitful, steady, and confident every single day! I am often tossed around by my circumstances, ruled by my emotions, distracted by worldly pleasures, and basically overthinking everything in the universe.

Interesting that the verses just before it say,

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength…he shall not see when good comes…”

Maybe we get so focused on what everyone around us has or is doing that we miss standing confident on all the good he is sending into our own lives. We grasp at “if onlys” and “what ifs” so regularly that we are paralyzed to see good or do any good for Him.

Put your hope in God! Look at Him! Command your soul to remember. Stop scrolling. Look your people in the eye. Do something kind for someone! Choose to not be the main character! Tell the overthinking part of your brain to be quiet and thank God instead. Even when it is hard! Deep roots are never formed without some struggle.

This is where we get to be blessed, sisters. Trusting in Jesus (even when it looks a little desperate and needy) will produce strong, fruitful, and confident women in the Lord! 💛🧡❤️💙🩵💚
  • My parents are moving. 😢

The last 2 weeks have been so sweet. Just soaking up time together… in their home… for the last time.

It’s weird to see everything empty, but if there’s one thing I have learned, it is that home is where your mom and dad are! It has little to do with spaces and decor and everything to do with hearts and spirits.

May we all create homes of love and light and warmth. ✨It travels with you wherever you have to go.✨

I’m grateful they won’t be too far away. And they are already planning to come back for a visit in 2 weeks. 😂

Love you so much, Mom and Dad. You are forever my home! ❤️‍🩹
  • I don’t always share my fries when they ask. It’s been a long time since I’ve stuck a note in their lunch boxes. I handed over a load of stinky laundry that I let sit too long before moving to the dryer for them to put away because I didn’t have the energy to rewash it. I am not the best listener when I am stressed. I sometimes cry in front of them listening to worship on the way to work because I’m desperate and needy. I fuss about the level of mess in the house almost daily.

I am not a perfect mom. Most days I’m tired and feel like I am failing.

But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever!

If I had to stand on one thing in motherhood it would be that I am certainly not enough, but Jesus is. He is filling in every gap. He is meeting every need I don’t. He is working and moving in spite of me. Praise God for that amazing grace! And He loves that I keep showing up and needing Him. He loves that I seek His face always. Even when I’m being fussy and wrestling with the parts of me that are selfish and wanting.

Because God is my shepherd - I won’t be wanting. I won’t be wanting to have the perfect home or perfect circumstances. May the Lord find me wanting and hungry for more of Him in my mothering. I hope they will see that hunger more than my hunger for fries. And I pray they will learn to hunger for Him, too.

**Only He can satisfy.**

Happy Mother’s Day, dear ones! God is enough for you! 💝

Easter 2025 Thoughts >>

Been off of social media for Lent and it’s been amazing. Never underestimate the power of a good fast. There is fullness of the Lord to be had! 🙌🏻

This morning we woke up early for Easter service rehearsal. But one kiddo wouldn’t get out of bed, one kiddo was crying about having to wear a collared shirt, one experimented with some Easter basket goodies in the bathroom without my knowledge and there was a strange purple substance all over everything just as we really needed to get out the door, and one was dealing with an upset stomach the whole drive to church.

Meanwhile I’m yelling at everyone to JUST BE HAPPY BECAUSE JESUS IS RISEN!!!!!

I wish it hadn’t taken me this long in motherhood to learn that the chaos and mess and poop emergencies are the real stuff of life. You can wallow in the badness of it all on such a special morning, or you can remember that all the crazy is really why He came to do what He did. To offer PEACE in the chaos, JOY in the mess, a steady heart when someone’s about to have an accident in the car in their Easter outfit (that they hate anyways).

Joy comes in the morning, friends, and joy comes in the MOMENT. He died and rose again to make sure of it.

God bless you! ✝️💐🙌🏻😁
  • Woohoo! 🥳 The kids are at Grammie’s and we went to a wedding! Got to get dressed up, see Ryan rock it as the “professional officiant” (this is what the wedding coordinator called him), eat a free steak, and even dance a little! 💃🏼🪩

To be honest, I almost didn’t attend the wedding with Ryan! I wasn’t feeling great and the idea of being home without kids all day to catch up on cleaning and laundry was pretty appealing. But the little nudge in me said DO NOT MISS THIS. I wanted to hear Ryan’s message and watch him lead this precious couple’s ceremony. I knew it was important to him that I be there. So because I treasure him, I went.

And I wasn’t the only one treasuring today! Ryan thanked me for coming with him, he danced with me even though I knew he would rather die than be on the dance floor, and he let me run into the store on the way home to end the day with some chocolate.

So here’s to treasuring one another - looking first to your spouse’s interests before your own, being their biggest fan, and telling them they look super hot in the fancy suit.

🎉 NOAH is 16! 🎉

Writing this while you are playing a game of hockey with your little brothers in the living room - because you are awesome and love making your little brothers happy. You are commentating the entire game, complete with buzzer sound effects and crowd cheers. 🥅🏒📣

Moving to a new school this year was not easy. We had some hard times, some big disappointments, some dreams crushed… but you didn’t give up.

This passage really encouraged me recently! Interesting that the verses just before it say, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength…he shall not see when good comes…” Maybe we get so focused on what everyone around us has or is doing that we miss standing confident on all the good he is sending into our own lives. 💛🧡❤️💙🩵💚

My parents are moving.

I don’t always share my fries when they ask.

✝️💐HAPPY EASTER💐✝️

Woohoo! 🥳 The kids are at Grammie’s and we went to a wedding! Got to get dressed up, see Ryan rock it as the “professional officiant” (this is what the wedding coordinator called him), eat a free steak, and even dance a little! 💃🏼🪩

My favorite thing that Ryan said during the ceremony was that God made Adam wait for Eve. He paraded all the Mr. and Mrs. animals in front of him long enough until Adam’s longing matched God’s good gift. The timing was then right, Adam was ready to fully appreciate and treasure his Mrs. “Man”.

I mean, after all, he is a professional. 😁
