We live in South Florida where the humid, wet weather is a breeding ground for sugar ants!
Also I have children.
Who hide bananas in the clothes hamper and think that Cheerios are actually decorations for our carpets.
So I am constantly at war with the sugar ants. It kind of feels like an eleventh plague sometimes.
We went the route of professionals and forked over hundreds of dollars for a yearlong bug spraying that actually did almost nothing at all.
Then we found the ANSWER —
Which obliterated the sugar ants!
**Cue the confetti!**
And I am going to share it with you today!
**Cue more confetti!!**
And it’s ONLY 3 INGREDIENTS!!!
***BALLOON DROP!***
Ready?
Mix 1 cup of warm water with 1/2 cup sugar and 3 Tablespoons of borax. Soak some cotton balls in this mixture and then place the cotton balls in the spots where your ants gather most often.
Now wait.
Watch as hundreds of ants come to feast on your deadly delicious snack.
The hardest part of this process is controlling all of the urges to kill the ants.
Because there will be A LOT OF THEM.
But you need to wait as the ants will dine on the sugar/borax solution, take it back to their nest, share it with the others, and then they will all die.
(Insert maniacal laughing here) 🙂
Just kidding — but not really. I love all of God’s creatures, but sugar ants just really make me crazy and I tell you, once we tried this miracle solution —
ALL OF OUR SUGAR ANT PROBLEMS WERE GONE.
It took less than 24 hours in our case, but we kept the cotton balls out for several days (and you should too – just to be safe).
I couldn’t believe it! All that money we wasted on professionals and chemicals!
If you are having sugar ant problems – this is all you need to know to get your house back and be delivered to the Promised Land of no bugs.
Now I need to try this process out in my car because that’s where all the ants have relocated.
Joyfully,
Julie 🙂

Hi, Julie! I found a similar poisonous/yummy concoction for the nasty little sugar ants & it seems a little faster “whip up” if you are in a hurry when you notice the first of them: Equal parts of the Borax to creamy peanut butter – thats it! So, you can actually mix a half of a teaspoon of each ingredient together & drop little bits wherever you see them. I was told the peanut butter is because sometimes the ants are greese feeders. Either way, it’s amazing, just like you wrote.
Thanks for all your amazingness!
Happy Home Fairy
That sounds BRILLIANT! Thanks, girl!

I have sugar ants & we are in Lockdown due to COVID-19 I don’t have any Borax. Could I use Oxy-clean
Shannon Couch
I have 2 very nosy kitties… will they bother/lick the concoction? Will it harm them?
Jen
Julie,
This could be my life! Except change South Florida to Central Florida!! I laughed in understanding about Cheerios being floor decor!! Thanks for the tip!! I will be getting some borax as soon as I get off work!!
Lynda
Found your advice yesterday. Set out the “delicious snacks” in two locations. This morning they are ALL gone! (maniacal laugh). Thank you, now can you do something about the traffic?
Celeste Knight
Thank you! I just mixed up my concoction and set them out…can’t wait for them to die! I have tried bleach, vinegar, chemical sprays, all with no luck. They keep coming back. Thank you! Hoping they come feast tonight and are gone by morning! ~Evil laugh x 10~

Is this safe to have around kids and pets?
SJ
No! It’s dangerous for pets and kids, so please put it in a location they cannot access or in an area you can block off. I’ve heard it’s very effective on sugar ants, just nervous to try because of the kids and dog.
Sherry
How often do you need to repeat the process?
Di
I live in Spain and cannot get Borax here. Is there an equivalent I could use please? Thanks
Berenice
Can you put it on your kitchen counter tops? How long do you wait before wiping them out?
Wendy Nichols
This works! I live in a log home, ants are the enemy. I have tried various concoctions, and have found this to be amazing, simple and safe. Thank-you!
