Last year I co-helped with the Happy Buddy’s PreK-2 class Christmas party.
We wanted to send something cute home with the kids – a small party favor that reminded them Who Christmas is really about.
After some inspiration from THIS POST, we set about making these adorable Baby Jesus Crafts.
Brown lunch bag (you could also use that squiggly gift bag filler stuff if you wish – I had lunch bags on hand. Free is always better in this Happy Home!) 🙂
Scissors
Piece of toilet paper (or white felt, white crepe paper, etc.)
Ziploc baggie
Small wooden spoon (I bought a package of them at Michael’s)
Double-sided tape
Pen
Crayons
FREE Printable Scripture Card (download at end of post!)
Step 1 – Cut pieces of the brown lunch bag. This will be the ‘hay.’
Step 2 – Place the ‘hay’ in the Ziploc baggie.
Step 3 – Draw a face on the wooden spoon with the pen and crayons.
Step 4 – Take a piece of toilet paper and wrap it around the wooden spoon. Secure with a piece of tape.
Step 5 – Nestle Jesus in the little baggie/manger.
Step 6 – Add the FREE Printable Scripture Card. You can staple this to the front of the bag or slip it inside the bag.
Make a whole bunch and hand out to friends!
This would also be a great activity to do with your Sunday School class or for a Happy Birthday Jesus Party.

I hope you like this craft! What a sweet and simple way to honor that little babe who changed the world.
Happy Easy Baby Jesus Craft-ing! 🙂

Thank you for such a cute and easy idea. I’m going to use it with my Cub Scouts next week. Having eight 10 year olds, quick and easy is the only way to go when you only have an hour. Love coming here.

P.S. Where do you buy the wooden spoons?
Happy Home Fairy

Thanks so much, Julie; you’re the best! 🙂

So easy and adorable. Thank you.
Carolyn
Any other ideas to use in place of the spoons? I cannot find them in my area 🙁
Happy Home Fairy
Bummer! I would try either a clothespin (the kind that don’t open and shut) or print a coloring page Jesus offline on thick paper. Have kids color then cut out then glue a piece of white felt or tissue for the cloths. 🙂
Carolyn
Excellent ideas….thanks, as always!

LOVE this idea. Would think that you might could use a popsicle type craft stick (cut in half) also—baby would be thin and without shape but it COULD work!!!
Carolyn
I had some tongue depressor sticks on hand & it doesn’t look bad! It’s wider than the popsicle stick! Thanks for the idea….

OK… so I was completely charmed by this adorable craft. My girls are 4 and 6 (and their adoption through foster care after 3 years will be final in February!!!!) and I teach their Sunday School class. We’re doing a Happy Birthday Jesus party next week, so this week we made 60 of these. Yes sixty. So we can hand them our as a Christmas Card from the little ones Sunday School class,
So thanks again, and I gave you credit! Much love to you and your family!

Always on the look out for super new ideas.thank you

I would skip the baggie, and just cut the bottom 3″ or so off the paper bag, fold the top over to keep it open and strengthen the edge, and use it to hold the rest of the project. Cut strips off remainder of paper bag for ha and fill bottom (glue inside if you like.) Then attach printable onto bag. Done! No need for a plastic bag and no risk of kids misuse 🙂

Sounds good! Thanks, Linda!
