One my most popular Christmas posts is the set of 24 cards I created several years ago that tell a little piece of the Christmas story each day (you can see them HERE).
I love those cards, but I wanted to make a set that was a bit more kid-friendly (the earlier printable was written using the King James Version of the Bible).
This brand new version was created using the International Children’s Bible and the Easy Reader’s Version of the Bible. Plus, I did my very best to keep the verses short and without some of the more challenging vocabulary for little ears – like taxes and virgin.
I am all for educating our kids and having rich conversations with them about the Christmas story, but a 2-year-old is usually not ready to sit and listen to a sermon about the history of Caesar Augustus, the Roman Empire, and the great census. They typically just want to move along to finding out whether or not they can have some chicken nuggets for lunch.
😉
Christmas is about Jesus. So let’s capture their little hearts and minds with a simple, fun, Christ-centered countdown to Christmas!
These little cards are the perfect size for Advent Calendars!
They also fit just right with your Elf on the Shelf or Shepherd on the Search each day!
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to celebrate Christmas this year and remember the One who it’s all about, I know you will love these cards!

Just want to let you know what a blessing your posting is! I teach a dozen + 2nd & 3rd grade Sunday School class and today we took your 25 advent countdown to Christmas cards and made a red & green paper chair with them! Started with a red strip & day #1 – pasted it to chain & made a circle, took a green strip, pasted #2 onto it and added it to chain #1! And so on until we had a 24 chain completed project. Kids then took the printout for Christmas day, signed their name on the back, put it in an envelope addressed to Jesus with whatever message for Him they wanted to add (heart, I love you, etc.) and took it home to put on their Christmas Tree! Each day they will take off a chain, and read the verse with their family! Can I just tell you how many parents, upon seeing the chain and envelope, thanked my husband & I as teachers for this project, as they wanted to do something for Advent and didn’t have time to get it ready! Some of the younger kids complained after about 12 or so chains, thinking it was too hard, but we discussed how hard it was for Jesus to leave Heaven and come down to die for us! I would seriously recommend this to any family or SS class, Youth Group, etc. to use next year! It is a true blessing and winner!

I am a teacher at a christian school. I am not able to download these the way you are set up. My school has a lock on being able to download things. Could you please email this to me so I can use this with my class. Thank you for what you are doing for the kingdom.
Blessings,

Thank you so much for the printable Advent calendar verses. I have purchased a keepsake wooden calendar for each of my grandchildren. Every year, I try to find stickers or bells or anything small that seems to go with a Bible verse. This year it has been difficult for me to find the time to do the research for meaningful verses. Your work is beautiful and will be meaningful to my precious little boys! I hope this Advent season blesses you with wonder and peace.
Charlotte
About halfway through cutting these up, and so far they are perfect! I have 6 kids 6 and under, so my productivity is primarily limited to after bedtime; I wanted to make a list like this but realized it wasn’t going to get done on time that way. So many advents I found were activities/traditions—which are beautiful and important, but I worried that all my effort would go in to those and Christ would get lost in it all. Then, another scripture one wouldn’t load, and another jumped around too much, but these were simple and sequential! I’m putting these into a calendar we painted (with a note to learn a Christmas song when applicable to the story) alongside Some chewable vitamins(For the candy effect) and the daily service ideas from the #lighttheworld calendar (and a correlating scripture from Jesus’ life when I can think of one). Altogether that’ll be 2-4 things a day to help us learn about Jesus birth and life all month long in-spite of my Procrastination/sleep deprivation. Thanks sooooo much for sharing these!
Happy Home Fairy
Charlotte, thank you so much for letting me know how God led you to these little cards. What a blessing to know that you will use them all month long with your family! I am so honored! Also I love your chewable vitamin idea lol!! God bless you!!
Michelle

Thank you for the bite size scripture based advent calendar. I’ve printed it out before and used it for my youth group activity 2 years ago. This year with my 30month old boy, I included the Chinese verses to them to make it bilingual, enlarged it and printed the calendar on a transparent label sheets and applied in on the window in his play area. It’s stuck there for the rest of this month and I love how he can’t rip or tear anything down. lol.
Elizabeth Hernandez
Thank you! what program did you use?…i would love to make some in Spanish.
Happy Home Fairy

Blessings to you~

I wish artists would quit drawing/painting the manger as a wood box. There was very little wood to spare in Israel. All the archaeologists say that mangers would have been chiseled out of rock or made out of stones because there was (and still are!) a plethora of stones and rocks in Israel. Why not be accurate in what we portray to children? It’s like so many children’s books that say Jonah was swallowed by a whale….he wasn’t….the Bible says it was a big fish that God prepared just for Jonah. Whales are mammals and fish are fish.
If you ever re-draw your adorable illustrations, you might want to consider this.
Happy Home Fairy
You are absolutely right! Thank you for the reminder and yes, I will definitely keep that in mind for future designs! God bless you!

Thank you so much, Julie! I printed your Advent Bible verses on red and green construction paper and cut them into strips for our Sunday School kids to make a paper chain to count up to Christmas. I made a Happy Birthday, Jesus card (number 25) for the chain to hang from. The children really enjoyed our craft. Your generosity in sharing your ideas for free is wonderful, because our budget is limited.

Thank you for these, using them again this year for our advent calendar tower – I write an activity to do for each day on the back and include a healthy treat for my kids as well. 🙂

Thank you for these cute advent verses. I appreciate you sharing them. I have used an advent calendar for many years and then stopped as my children grew up and moved away. I now have 15 grandchildren with more on the way and brought out my advent calendar to use again and noticed many of the verses I created were missing. You made my updating process so easy and the verses we will read each day are much moe attractive than mine ever were!!
