Fun Ways to Give Money as a Gift!

May is the month for Graduations!

The Happy Hubby is actually a graduate himself this year – May 18th my man will be walking across the platform to receive his Masters of Divinity.

Seriously, with all that we have going on right now, he still wrote two 20-page papers dissecting a piece of Scripture – in GREEK, no less – and turned them in on time so that he can get his diploma along with the rest of his class.

I am so proud of him.

So proud that I am trying to come up with a great gift idea to celebrate all that he has accomplished in the last 6 years of seminary.

Who doesn’t like getting cash as a gift?

But stuffing an envelope with a couple of twenties just doesn’t cut it for this Happy Home Fairy.

Here are some Creative Money Gifting Ideas that any Graduate would love…

I did this fun idea last year for a gal I knew who was graduating from high school.

She laughed and laughed about it!

Check out the idea over at Create My Event.

I love this fabulous Money Lei from Your Homebased Mom.

You could take this Christmas Money Jar idea found HERE and just change the tag!

Or, instead of a jar, carefully cut an opening in the back of an empty 2-liter soda bottle, insert candy and money, then close and cover with scrapbook paper in the graduate’s school colors.

Read more about this clever idea at Nancy’s Craft Spot.

I found this awesomeness on Pinterest,

I really like this easy to make Graduation Gift idea from eighteen25 – complete with FREE Printable!

Crafts Unleashed transformed a simple box into a graduation cap!

Roll up money like tiny diplomas and line them inside the box for a happy surprise.

(Every)Nothing Wonderful shows you how to insert money into a bar of soap (not as hard as you’d think!) to encourage graduates to stay on top of showering once they leave home. 🙂

Sounds like good clean fun to me!

A neat birthday gift, but also works great for grads, Making Memories with Your Kids made this fun Money in a Can gift that allows the recipient to pull out a whole chain of dollar bills.

How magical that the cash just keeps coming and coming!

OR, take this same idea but stick the roll of bills in an empty tissue box.  Include a note that says, “Don’t BLOW it all in one place!” 🙂

I did this for my brother last Christmas – you HAVE to see the hilarious photos of him pulling out all that cash.  Go HERE.

Now this is genius!

The Seasonal Home bought an inexpensive umbrella from the dollar store and dangled bills from the inside so that when the graduate opened it up – tada!

A little something for a rainy day… 🙂

Increasingly Domestic hangs balloons with dollar bills inside for each year of her Happy Buddy’s lives on their birthdays.

How cool to get to pop balloons and have money fall out on you?

And, finally, I just loooove how awesome and creative this Box of Chocolates Money is from Life As Mom.

Are you trying to think of a graduate whom you can bestow a little dough with one of these fantastic ideas???

The Happy Hubby would be a happy recipient – haha! 🙂

If you loved this, don’t forget to ‘like’ Happy Home Fairy on Facebook HERE to stay up-to-date on more family fun and encouragement for moms.

Happy Money Gift-ing! 🙂

*Come to think of it, these ideas would also work great as End of Year Teacher Gifts or Birthday presents!*

For one of our sons birthdays, we asked him what he wanted. He said “cold hard cash” so we froze a $50 bill in a big chunk of ice. Everyone thought it was great.

I just gave my wife $50 in her stocking, but i hid it in all the candy. I hid a $20 in an almond hersheys kiss, just folded it up to resemble one, and put the wrapper over it. I cannot wait to see her face, trying to find all of that money!

Love these ideas. The money jar reminds me of the tin can that my mother-in-law gave to Brock on his 16th birthday. She had been putting money in for all the little helper jobs he would do on his visits to her house since he was a toddler. I had no idea she had been doing that. It was a sweet surprise.

I carefully pulled back plastic wrapping on bottom of toilet paper 8-pack. Then I pulled each roll of t.p. out, trying not to make the bottom hole too large or tear. I put money inside each roll, put each roll back in place, and carefully glued and taped package up, so it looked like no one had tampered with with the package. The look on my granddaughters face when she opened the pack of toilet paper was too funny. She loved it, once someone suggested grandma gave her more than toilet paper for her birthday.

My sis used to give a character cookie jar each Christmas to our nephew with a $100 bill inside. He LOVED it and would thank her profusely each year; our sis (his mom) would say, “he doesn’t need another cookie jar, you gave him one last year”! She never knew there was money inside.

When my son was about 12, we decided to give him cash to put toward an item he’d been wanting but I didn’t want to just put cash in a card. So I got numerous bills of different denominations and taped them one after the other to the inside roll or paper toilet paper, then rolled it back up.
The look on his face when he unwrapped a roll of toilet paper only to unroll it to find the cash, was priceless!!

I’ve put money in WIFFLE BALLS before. Kids had fun hitting the ball to try and wear it down. They finally cut it open weeks later. I did the money in hand soap so the kids had to wash before getting to the money. I’ve put it in a 3D MAIZE PUZZLE, once they got the ball from one end to another it opened and released the money.

I am always looking for ways to give cash. For my grandson’s b-day I took an old, old torn Fairy Tale book. At about page 50 I cut a hole through the pages so it would hold 30 one dollar bills. Wrapped the book and when my grandson looked at it he started thumbing through the pages. I told him to look at the picture on page 50, an wahlah! it was a hit.

One year for the grandkids’ Christmas, I gave them each a Christmas tin full of Walnuts and a nutcracker. In some of the walnuts (that I had carefully opened on the seams, stuffed with folded money and glued back shut with Elmer’s glue) was their cash. They all had a blast opening walnuts to find their money

I never know what to get the males in my family and this year my cousin is is turning 21. I’m looking forward to seeing his face when he receives a bottle of cash and candy instead of liquor. Really grateful for the idea! There’s several of these that I love for teens because you’re right, they are hard to buy for and would really appreciate cold hard cash for most of the holidays. This is alot more fun than a giftcard!

  • We are celebrating that because of the cross we have the unwavering favor of God. Because of the cross we are pursued daily by God’s perfect love, we are offered forgiveness and freedom, and we are equipped with the hope of the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus!

  • Things I’ve learned from breaking my tailbone >>

1. It is possible to wear only 4 outfits in 2 weeks.

2. God is more concerned with developing character and deep roots than about our physical comfort.

3. My children don’t love to see me bedridden, but they love that they have been able to eat nuggets, pizza, and fries for 2 weeks.

4. When you can’t sleep because of pain or wild imagination that is not helpful, put on worship music.

5. A good prayer to pray, “Show me the depth of my need for You and shatter my self-sufficiency. Change my mindset so that prayer becomes my first response in every situation. May I seek You in all things. Help me to put all my hope in You...”

6. Hold on to a sense of humor. Or find someone to get you laughing. Even though it will hurt to laugh. You need to not take it all so seriously!

7. God’s people are so precious. People showed up on our doorstep with lasagnas, flowers, sandwiches, Uber Eats gift cards, and one dear soul even sent her cleaning ladies to our house to undo the damage of mama being down for days on end. Whenever I was tempted to despair, someone would text or bring by some freshly cut fruit. The message here is don’t ask, just do > because every act of kindness reminded me of Who is in charge.

8. When hard times come, lean into gratitude instead of fussiness and resistance. Thank your husband for carrying everything while you’re down, thank your community for carrying you to Jesus, thank the Lord for being present in all circumstances with a plan for your good and His glory. There is a reason God tells us in the Bible to do all things without complaining or disputing-so that you. will. shine. It’s not easy, but the reward is GREAT. I want the world to see Jesus shining in me in my adversity. Doesn’t mean you can’t cry and admit that what you are facing is so very difficult, but this can be done with a surrendered heart. This is the new assignment. Accept it, receive it as something that is from a loving Father. Look for the provisions along the way. You will go from strength to strength. Move forward with hope. He’s got you!

But when your parents come to town, it’s time to dust off the plates that aren’t made out of paper and plan a delicious breakfast menu! ✨

  • ✨When we wake up, it will be Christmas!✨

I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me to bake a cake for a family very dear to us. I went to the store, bought the ingredients, and carefully followed the recipe. The recipe said multiple times not to overcook the cake because it will very easily become dry. So I watched the oven diligently. But when I pulled the cake out, I could tell it had baked a little too long.

God called me to bake this cake for this family. It wasn’t time to quit, but it wasn’t time to make another cake! So instead of getting discouraged, I chose to pray about it. I asked the Lord to take my offering and make much of it. If He can multiply the loaves and fish, He can moisten up a cake!

Precisely one day after delivering the cake, we received a text stating what I thought was impossible. The cake was good! Delicious even!

Seems silly to pray about an overcooked cake, but I believe God is honored in these small acts of faith. Believing in the impossible was something God asked Mary to do, so why not trust Him to do the impossible here, too?

What impossible thing can we bring to Him in prayer today? He loves to hear from us. He loves to delight and surprise us when we choose to believe He is good and powerful and kind. He is no magic genie, but I think when our desires align with His heart, when obedience is the priority, and we are fully surrendered come what may, we can trust He will do a good thing.

“For nothing is impossible with God!” Luke 1:37

“He satisfies the hungry with good things.” Luke 1:53

Sleep tight, friends!

Galatians 5:13 says, “For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.”

The Lord gave us some helpful instructions on freedom and we are very much in need of them! May we set our gaze not on division and fighting, but on asking God how we can be a part of the solution - small, faithful acts of Spirit-led love every day to the people in our world.

It is here in America where we can freely and confidently respond to Zion’s request to gather as a family in the living room to pray for the leg pains he has been having. We can bake muffins in our kitchens, leave surprises at someone’s doorstep, share a Bible verse with the grocery store employee, and worship on Sunday with friends.

These freedoms were purchased at a great cost, as many chose to lay down their lives in an ultimate act of love. May we remember. And may that remembering lead us right back to Galatians 5:13 and Jesus’ ultimate act of love. This holy inspiration is what we need to rise each day in humble gratitude for freedom in Christ to pour out, serve, and build His kingdom here on earth!

Happy Birthday America! 🥳

I haven’t opened our home to host anything since 4 years ago when we got a dog and I lost complete control of the house. Also because this is a house of boys and the bathroom permanently smells like an outhouse and I’m a little self conscious about all of it. 🫠

But when your parents come to town, it’s time to dust off the plates that aren’t made out of paper and plan a delicious breakfast menu! ✨

The dog was absolutely thrilled to have so many new friends. Also he probably ate more than all of us combined. 😆

✨When we wake up, it will be Christmas!✨

❤️🤍💙Favorite day!💙🤍❤️
