how to make minion eggs for Easter! couldn't be easier! and so cute!!!!!!

The Happy Baby loves those adorable minions from the Despicable Me movies (I mean, who doesn’t??).

For his birthday party a few weeks ago we made some of these super cute Minion Easter eggs.

I thought I would share with you how to make your own because it is SO EASY.

You can whip a few together in about 2 minutes and sneak them in your Happy Buddies’ Easter baskets on Sunday morning.

Self-adhesive googly eyes (if you just have googly eyes, you can use Glue Dots to attach the eyes to the eggs)

Sharpie marker

minion eggs - step 1Step 1 – Separate out all of the blue and yellow eggs from the bag.

minion eggs - step 2Step 2 - Open the eggs (you may have to cut the hinges off) and then attach blue tops with yellow bottoms and yellow tops with blue bottoms.

You can draw a black band around the egg to finish off the whole goggle look, but I personally thought it looked too busy.

How To Mail Easter Eggs

mailing easter eggs - such a cute idea!.jpg

My boys and I took a little adventure to the Post Office on Saturday.

Along with our water bill, we mailed off a few plastic Easter eggs.

mailing eggs - supplies.jpgIf you want to mail some eggs yourself, make sure you buy the Jumbo-sized eggs (we found the ones above at Walgreens).

mailing eggs - putting together!.jpgWe filled ours with some Easter grass, a few stickers, small erasers, and these FREE Printable Easter Lunchbox Love Notes.

We decided not to put chocolate in the eggs because… well, we didn’t want it to melt in transit. :-)

mailing eggs - ready to go!.jpgSlap on the address label and wrap the eggs with packing tape.

Then head to the post office.

He kept chuckling because the eggs wouldn’t stop rolling off the scale.

mailing eggs - such a fun idea for Easter to brighten someone's day!.jpgThey didn’t look the prettiest after getting stamped and wrapped with tracking codes and postage (about $2 each), but they were still going to be a cute thing to find in a mailbox.

I mean ANYTHING is better than a bill or catalog, Amen?!

mailing eggs - so fun!.jpg

When all the eggs were ready, Jesus was all smiles and even thanked us for making his day more fun.

I mean, you can only handle so many flat things and cardboard boxes, you know? :-)

Random Acts of Kindness for Easter

The message of Easter is LOVE.

And love is best shown when we choose to put someone else’s needs before our own.

Like Jesus did.

Here are a few fun ways you can share the sweet message of Easter with the people in your world.Easter RAKs at Happy Home Fairy

Happy Easter RAK-ing! :-)

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?  Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18

The Joy Journey – Christ-Centered Easter Activities (FREE Printable)

The Joy Journey - Christ-Centered Easter Activities (FREE Printable).jpg

Easter falls late in April this year.

I love it.

We have 20 days, beginning April 1st, to go on a journey.

A journey that gives us a chance to look into the work of our Savior.

Hebrews 12:2 says, “We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.”

This is it, my friends.

We want joy?  We must do as Jesus did.

We must look beyond the trials, the troubles, the tears of this world and remember the JOY that is waiting for us -

While this is the message to preach to our Happy Homes – to the world – every. single. day, this month brings an especially tangible and precious opportunity to make this joy come alive for our loved ones.

I put together 20 Christ-centered activities for you to help make it possible. :-)The Joy Journey - Christ-Centered Activities for the Easter Season 9.jpg

It’s called The Joy Journey.

I purposely tried to gather the easiest and most doable ideas (’cause, you know, if it requires more than 4 things, I usually start breaking out in a sweat).

You can grab a supply list for each activity HERE.

The goal is to do one activity per day during the month of April and prayerfully engage my little ones in the sweet message of our Lord’s journey to joy.

The Joy Journey - Christ-Centered Activities for the Easter Season 5.jpgAnd speaking of sweet, I may have slipped a few M&M’s into the final egg to be opened on Easter morning. :-)

Oh, dear bloggy friends!  I pray that this little website can help assist you in focusing your Happy Homes on the cross this Easter!

Bunnies are fun and adorable and are even a small part this journey and are, in fact, created by the Lord, Himself, but they are not what Easter is about.

The Joy Journey - Christ-Centered Activities for the Easter Season 8.jpgEaster is about the joy that awaits us.

Easter is about the joy we can experience today.

Right now.

Because Easter is about Jesus.

The Dollar Tree Easter Basket Date Night Challenge

dollartree easter date

Last night the Happy Hubby and I got to go out on a little date (yay for Grammie and Pop-Pop!).

As we were heading out, I asked my man if he might be willing to risk utter humiliation for the sake of the blog.

After hearing my idea, and being the good sport that he is, he said no way. :-)

One of the things on the agenda to discuss on our date was our finances (this is real-life, my friends), so my idea did not exactly coincide with the bleakness that is the current state of our bank account.

But as we drove away from the house, we modified the idea a bit and he eventually agreed, so we took a detour to the Dollar Tree.

The mission?

We were going to put together Easter baskets for each other at the dollar store.  And because we didn’t want to be there all night, we decided that just 5 items would be good.

We also decided that in light of our financial status, we’d skip the actual buying of the Easter baskets and just exchange them in the store before putting everything back.

After all, it’s really the thought that counts, right???

As soon as we were in the store we took off – first to find baskets.

dollartree easter date1Then the items.

We met at the back of the store after about 10 minutes to exchange our baskets.dollartree easter date3

First up was me!

I had picked out a camouflage Easter bucket for my tough guy (who is even more of a man, in my opinion, for standing in the back of a Dollar Tree with an Easter basket in hand).

Here’s what I picked out for him…dollartree easter date4

A Pizza slicer because the Happy Hubby could seriously eat pizza every night of the week.

Hi-Liters because he is always studying and needs them to mark important notes in his books.

The second love of his life – chocolate.

A funny Sumo-man Stress Ball to help him cope with the crazy hours he has been keeping at work recently.

And pain medicine to relieve the headache he probably had from spending so much time in a Dollar Tree! :-)dollartree easter date2

I have to say.  The Happy Hubby NAILED my basket.

I almost cried when he showed me the things he gathered in my honor!dollartree easter date5

Easter Pencils because he knows how excited I was about this FREE Printable I made for y’all!

A Disney Princess Candy Egg for indulging after the Happy Buddies are in bed.

Glitter Glue because he knows my motto is, “When in doubt, just add glitter!”

A Minnie Mouse Coloring Paint Set because I love anything that has to do with Walt.

And the best item?

That Bible.

The Happy Hubby said he chose the Bible because he knows I love to read it!

That was the one that brought the tears – I am so happy that he sees me in that way and not the fearful, fretting woman I am trying to surrender.

God’s sweet grace, I tell yah!

When we were finished the exchange we raced to put our things back.

As I returned the Peanut Butter Cups, something caught my eye.

Something that I should have put in the Happy Hubby’s basket to help ease the burden of the conversation we were about to have over a giftcard-paid dinner.

You’ve Been Egged – He Is Risen Style (FREE Printable!)

I absolutely love the tradition of ‘egging’ someone’s house.

If you haven’t heard of it before, no, it does not mean you chuck raw eggs at your neighbor’s windows.

This kind of ‘egging’ is when you take a bunch of treat-filled plastic eggs, head to a friend’s house, jump out of the car, hide the eggs all over their lawn, and then hop back in the car and drive away.

When the ‘egged’ houses’ homeowners come outside they get to be surprised and blessed by the spontaneous egg hunt!

egged picI originally saw the idea and printable over at eighteen25.  Then I came across THIS PIN and fell in love with the Jesus-spin that was added to the whole ‘egging’ business.  I decided to combine the two ideas and make a fun FREE Printable (based on the same design as the one at eighteen25) for us to use on our ‘egging’ adventures – all while keeping it about Christ!

The other great thing about this FREE Printable is that it specifies 12 eggs.  I like the number 12 because it sounds really do-able.  You know, if you’ve ever thought about ‘egging’ someone before, you might have chickened out of doing it simply because you had this preconceived notion that you had to do like 40 eggs to make it any good.

Oh not so, my friend!  Keep it easy!  12 is all you need!

Plus, the specific number ensures that every egg will be found.

The Happy Buddy was very excited about the idea.

eggingWe got right to work stuffing our 12 eggs with stickers, mini Easter erasers, my FREE Printable Easter Notes from last year, and even a little bit of candy (be careful about the chocolate candy – you don’t want it to melt.  We knew our friends would be home soon after our mission was accomplished, so it was all good.).

And, of course, the empty egg – the most important one!

egging1We headed out, eggs in bucket.

And still wearing our pajamas – ‘cuz that’s how we roll.

egged3First we taped the sign to our friends’ door.

Then I set the Happy Buddy loose to hide the eggs.

When we were all done, we high-tailed it out of there as if we were being chased by Farmer McGregor himself!

I got some great text message photos an hour later when they got home and their Happy Buddy discovered the eggs.

The best part, though?

Knowing that we had shared the TRUE meaning of Easter with our friends. :-)

Would you like to ‘egg’ someone in your world this week?
