Easy Bat Craft

18 Oct

I’m tired of bats and spiders and black cats getting a bad rep around this time of year!

I mean, they are God’s creation, after all. :-)

When he made everything, he said, “It is very good.”

So I think bats are very good, too, and worthy of a fun little craft.

What you need:

Black construction paper

Double-sided tape

Scissors (not shown – spaghetti brains)

White colored pencil

Clothespin

Self-adhesive googly eyes

Step 1 – Use the white colored pencil to sketch the outline of a bat body and bat wings on the black paper.

Step 2 – Cut the pieces out.

Step 3 – Use the double-sided tape to attach the bat body to the bat wings.

Step 4 – Add googly eyes and a happy mouth.

Step 5 – Use the tape again to attach the clothespin to the back of the bat.

Step 6 – And voila!  A cheerful little bat to go batty over! :-)

The Happy Buddy thought they were pretty cool.

We hung them on the blinds in the Happy Buddy’s big boy room, but you could clip them anywhere – on your Happy Buddy’s backpack, your Happy Hubby’s shirt pocket, or clip on a handwritten note and stick in your neighbor’s mailbox.

Happy Bat Craft-ing! :-)

Such a cute craft! I love happy decorations! Happy Friday!!!! :-)
P.S. Have you ever read the book “Stellaluna” (by Janell Cannon)? It is an adorable story about a little bat who loses her family and is raised by birds (she has to learn to sleep the right way up and stay awake during the day, etc.) There is a beautiful ending as she is joyfully reunited with her mother, and as she realizes that, even though they are different, she can still be friends with her bird “family”. The illustrations are lovely, and it is a positive story to share at this time of the year!

You could also attatch a paper clip if you have skinny enough blinds. This might be a little cheaper. Love the idea!
