The Bald Eagle

3 Jul

Did you know that Benjamin Franklin wanted our national bird to be the turkey???

Boy, am I glad we ended up with the bald eagle.

Bald Eagles are pretty awesome.  And pretty inspiring, too!

The only thing I find inspiring about the turkey is that it makes me hungry. :-)

Check out these simple Bald Eagle Crafts you can do this week in celebration of our country’s birthday.

Finally, it’s no wonder the bald eagle is not only our national bird, but also God Himself recognizes it a few times throughout Scripture.

After all, the eagle is a bird who, instead of ducking for cover in a storm, starts flying above the clouds.

Happy Eagle Craft-ing! :-)

I’ve heard that Franklin wanted the Turkey because Eagles are predators and Turkeys aren’t. It was actually a way of cementing a pacifist position for our country. I don’t mind the Eagle because of how the Bible uses them. Plus, there are times to be militaristic; just we shouldn’t take over others.
    Praying for you guys!

While on vacation last week in Alaska, we saw many bald eagles! They truly are magnificent. Thanks for sharing the links–I’m pinning this to my Fall In Kindergarten board, for Patriot Week!
